I've only had the drive for a month but so far it's great. No bad burns on CD-ROMs like my cheap burner. Bluray playback works but on one movie I sometimes have to reboot before starting it (only tested 2 movies so far). Haven't tested HD-DVD. The included software is excellent. |

I have purchased two of these players in the last year and am very pleased with the product.
It does everything I wanted in a Blue ray player and DVD recorder. I also believe I bought it at a fair price.

Thus far the CD read and booting have been great.
Playing regular DVDs was great.
I did not receive any software thus have not yet tested Blu Ray functionality.
Why was Blu Ray player software excluded? |

This "blu-ray" player worked fine for all of one (1) day. The irony was that while it played DVDs just fine, it failed to recognize blu-ray DVDs. I essentially had a DVD player for a quasi-blue-ray price. I tried updating the software, firmware, and drivers and nothing worked. May be a fluke, but it may be an issue that LG will have to live with because my research on the web says that I was not the only one. TigerDirect was great in the customer service department and I will continue to use them. I will however do a little more research next time before purchasing an item based on price alone. |

The good: Blu-ray plays perfectly. DVD playing & writing are great. The bad: cannot make the HD DVD-ROM to keep video and audio in synch. If I hit 2X speed and back to play, it will synch. But in about 5 minutes, it's out again. True for old and new HD DVD movies alike. A good drive for the price over-all if you're not planning to play in the HD DVD-ROM format. |
