works dandy after a software glitch workaround
i tried to use the recommended software. you had to pay for the version capable of doing a system backup, but a trial version was available. i tried it and got a permanent error and couldn't update the backup. so i switched to the os x version of a legacy backup program and all has been well since then. the alternate software was also easier to understand for defining a backup strategy. sounds to me like reviewer disipointed on november 15 should demand a replacement drive from the company.

Works Well
I've used the drive to backup my system drive and reclaim hard drive space there by moving photos files here. My computer now works much better.

Excellent and nice
Can't say if it is faster or slower than other, just can say that I received it 2 months ago, decided to put it on a visible place because it looks really good, and forgot it: it makes its jobs, no problem.

Very disipointed
Bought this last December, worked twice then crashed. I had saved all my data on it and lost it. I called Lacie and got no help whatsoever. Ordered recovery software recommended by lacie (another $75). Recovered some of my data, re-formated drive, saved more files on it, next time I used it it crashed again. It will not re-format now. I would not recommend this product
