THIS PRODUCT SHIPS IN OEM PACKAGING - GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN
Manufacturers sometimes offer discounts when large quantities of products are purchased without fancy, colorful, retail packaging. We take advantage of these opportunities to bring you the same quality, retail product at a lower price. Retail packaging is designed to look good on a store shelf and attract your attention. It frequently includes more paper, plastic and cardboard than needed. OEM packaging is not as visually attractive but is far more economical and because OEM packaging uses less paper, plastic, ink and cardboard it creates less waste and is better for the environment. Although OEM packaged product ships in a plain white or brown box you can be assured it is the same quality product as the retail packaged version. Buying OEM packaged products saves you money and helps save the planet…GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN. Included accessories, software, documentation, and manufacturer warranties on OEM products may vary from retail versions. Please review our detailed specifications and photo gallery for included accessories and see below for warranty information.

Seagate ST3 1.5TB SATA Harddrive
I bought this harddrive in Dec'08 for a new power PC I built, and even after 3 years it's still running without failure. The only reason I am just now ordering a second one is for backing up the first one just in case. Great harddrive.

Terrible Performing Hard Drive
This particular model hard drive has been out for quite a while and I expect them to have weed out all of the bugs but apparently they have not done so. The earlier version of this hard drive has problems with the firmware that supposedly caused the drive to lock up and refuse to be accessible. They supposedly have fixed that with the new firmware. The next problem appears to be the clicking problem according to my online research. It appears that many people having problems also with clicking with this particular model. The drive I have has an occasional click. Sometimes when it clicks it does so repeatedly at most just under eight times or so. When that happens so does the stuttering when I'm listening to my music or watching my video that happens to be accessing the file on that particular drive.

Great Drives at reasonable prices
I have 23 of these drives in two servers. Some of them have been running for two years steady. I have never had a failure yet. I don't know why there are so many reviews stating poor reliability but I have had and excellent experience with this line of drive and intend to buy more the next time they go on sale.

Completely dead with no sign
I have one for less than six months. I didn't use it often. It went completely bad just after I set up my 2008 server r2 with ADDS, DNS and so on. It is a huge loss for me. I RMAed it early last week but the shipment to Seagate is getting stuck in snow storm in TX now. I have to wait extra long time to get my replacement.

within warranty period drive dies
had the drive for 1.5 years or less and the drive dies in my NAS. completely full of stuff as well. I think seagate is starting to loose their shine as the best place to get HD from. Customer service was great for warranty replacement, however, I cant get my massive movie library back.
