Great Scanner
I have used this scanner each and every day for over a year without problem. This may not be the most expensive but it is the best you can buy for the price.

So far it's smarter than I am
I spent several hours on my one day off setting up and attempting to learn how to use this scanner. I am not tech wizard AND did work as tech support once, so I can work with clearly explained directions. As tech support for this scanner is not available on weekends, I am not sure if I will be able to actually use this scanner and the 3 year warranty I bought as well. I figured some things out after looking on the web to actually distinguish the meaning of some of the instructions. So, yes, I am sure the quality is great and I bet it works great. I could really use some specific help with buttons and emails. Thanks, frustrated so far.

Great Old School Technology
This scanner is great for those of us who prefer the old school scanner technology. It's a better product than many that are more expensive. Canon retains its good reputation.

Better than the small handheld scanners
Does a good job with prints or slides, scans of negatives are overexposed and washed out. I bought 2 of these and the both do the same thing. Print scanner software is great and auto crops prints. The organizer software is clumsey and convoluted.

Good value
I bought this to do jobs where my all-in-one printer's scanner was inadequate. I'm scanning close to 1,000 old photos for a project and having scanned a couple hundred already I can say that it does indeed get the job done. This will scan several images at the same time and you can save to JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PDF and OCR text. Three or 4 standard prints will fit on the bed at once for scanning and you can probably fit 5 or 6 Polaroids. Legal size documents will fit in their entirety. It also has a special detachable tray to scan old film. Overall this scanner is a good value and I recommend it to anyone who needs to upgrade from an old scanner or has a project that their generic all-in-one printer scanner can't handle.
