Also supports double/dual layer DVD format. The double/dual layer DVD uses two layers for data storage, which are separated by a spacer. The advent of this technology nearly doubles a DVD’s capacity from 4.7GB to 8.5GB.

This is an ok drive and it does what it should do. Just don't buy it because it has software with it. This is ONLY a 30 day trial version and is two version behind the current verion of Nero. |

Despite this being a non major brand name DVD Rom drive this unit is quite nice. It supports many different optical disc formats. My computer picked up on it and installed the drivers. I bought this drive so I could buy a copy of Painkiller Overdose because it's only on DVD Rom. My only negative comment is that the Nero 7 Essentials disc should say Nero 7 Essentials Trial on it because that's what it actually is. But that's just a minor issue with me, other then that this is still a good DVD Rom drive and it suits my needs. My thanks to Tigerdirect for having a couple of DVD Rom drives for just under $20. I replaced a older DVD-ROM that worked intermittently and this one is just as good as the ''Big Brand Name'' that it replaced. |
