Navigate With Ease
nüvi 255W comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and smooth map redraw rates as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. In addition, nüvi 255W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. With HotFix™ satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

With photo navigation, you can download Google™ Panoramio™ pictures via our Garmin Connect™ Photos website and navigate to them. The 255W is compatible with optional enhanced MSN® Direct content (subscription and receiver required) and our free Garmin Garage where you can download animated vehicles that show your location on the map. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in microSD cards such as Garmin Travel Guides for detailed data on attractions.

Excellent value
This Garmin is very user friendly, easy to use. Service was excellent, we received it in on scheduled delivery day. Loved the maps and the POI's were very helpful.

map update??
I have owned this Nuvi255 more than a year. It's not even a good paper weight, I have found little use for it as the map is very old and useless. I have tried to update the map and get a response that the map is up to date. I'm very disappointed with it. I'm still using my reliable paper map.

Should have bought a Magellan
Had an old Mgl 1200 before. This Gar is heavier and has smaller suction cup. Falls off after a couple days consistently. The Mag, never. Why put zoom in and out over each other instead left & right ?. At 3 zoom levels, no neighborhood streets shown as if you are off road, until you zoom in closer. At some zoom levels, you can see streets & freeways as end to end jagged dominoes !. Annoying, why can't they smooth it ?. I live just a couple miles from Mag HQ in San Dimas; I am a traitor. I deserve this.

great product
I bought this for my wife as her nuvi 650 touch screen died and hopefully garmin is fixing it. she drives a bus for work and this works like a champ. no need for the more expensive models, with all the poi's in this, people must just like to spend money.

Pretty decent
Pretty good bang for the buck...I got it a bit cheaper than 159.99 BNIB. Only issues I've had was that it wouldn't recognize newer streets but that's not too big of a deal so far. It does have a ton of POI that were pretty interesting
