As Good As TV's Costing Much More.
Great Picture, Adequate Sound. Where this tv really shines is energy usage. It senses light in the room and adjusts brightness automatically. After playing with the settings, I found the following picture settings work best. Backlight 50, Contrast 70, Brightness 55, Sharpness 75, Color 60, Tint 0, Color Temp 0, Dynamic Contrast Medium,. If you use these settings, you will have a nice picture while only using 38 watts of power according to my meter. For a 42 inch that is amazing. I would buy this LG again without hesitation. As for 3D, I dont use it so I cant comment or compare itto anything.

Great deal on a great tv
I was a little skeptical that the 3D up-convert would even work, but I think that's what makes this tv such a good value. There is a shortage of 3D content out there, but this tv can convert anything from 2D to 3D. And it works! There is no flicker, and no recharging of glasses. The glasses are light and comfortable. The only issue I have is that with the Cinema 3D technology, there can be a little bleeding of light from one eye to the other. For instance: when viewing an image of far-away stars, you may notice ghost images of the stars beside the intended image. Considering that, this technology makes 3D affordable and makes this tv a great value.
