Ultra ULT40243 Aluminus Drive Enclosure

I purchased this along with a ssd to replace the crashed hd in my mid-2007 macbook. I was hoping to recover data from the old drive but, alas, it was bricked. Tried freezing it, tapping it, dropping it, nothing worked. This was not the fault of the drive enclosure, though. In fact, with all of the abuse that I inflicted, the enclosure held up its end. I'll use it again some day, I'm sure.

Works perfectly!

Turned replaced laptop HDDs into backup drives for my daughter's PS3, my wife's laptop & my desktop. No problems at all, drives fit perfectly, all screws lined up & no heat issues like with black plastic unit you get with SSD kits that get almost too hot to hold after doing a full backup or cloning a drive. The aluminum housing pulls the heat away and dissipates it quickly. At $10 each they're an absolute steal!

Good, But Heavy and Complicated

I wanted an enclosure for an SSD for travel photography. This Ulra turned out to be heavier than I wanted, and it's also very complicated to open and install the drive. So I ended up going with a SIIG for the travel, but I kept the Ultra, too, for use at home with an old drive.

There is nothing else to say, these are great! I have 5 of these and never has a second thought about them.

Very Nice Product

I needed to recover data from the drive of a crashed HP laptop so I bought this case and put the HP's drive in it and recovered the data with no problem. Now I've got an additional external 500gb storage device. The enclosure is well made and is easy to use. And no, it doesn't require 2 USB slots. The drive gets it's power via the USB cable. Nice and inexpensive solution to data recovery problem.

No Complaints

The case is very good quality, it is well made, the only annoying part is that it takes two USB slots. One for power, and one for data transfer. Really this makes sense for maximizing data transfer rate, but if you are strapped for slots it could be a problem.

Works exactly as expected!

I needed this to retrieve data from a sick laptop and it performed flawlessly in this capacity. I will probably continue to use the drive for some backup.

Absolutely perfect solution.

I have bought many adapters and enclosures over the years and this enclosure blows them all away. This enclosure works perfectly, looks perfessional and is extremely well made. It is super easy to install the hard drive and feels like it will last forever. Definitely the best enclosure I have ever bought. If I need another, this is the one I will buy and will never buy another brand enclosure.

A Must Buy ! ! !

Took it out of the package put in the SATA drive put it back together and this thing ran asome. Some of the products out there don't come with the power supply but this one has one you plug it in and plug it in to usb and there is your power and then you plug in the usb cord and ready to go and the power supply cord works for the other one that is not the same as this one.
