Asus M2N-SLI Socket AM2/AM2+ Barebone Kit
Reviewed By Our Editors
In order to come up with your ideal multimedia and gaming system, you need to choose the best hardware for your computer. With the Asus M2N-SLI Socket AM2/AM2+ Barebone Kit, all the best components are combined to give you the best and toughest computer system.
This multimedia barebone kit consists of an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz Socket AM2 CPU, an Asus M2N-SLI Socket AM2 motherboard, a Western Digital 250GB SATA-300 OEM hard drive, a 20x DVD±RW burner, Crucial 2GB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz memory, a 800-watt power supply, and the Ultra X-Blaster Black ATX Mid-Tower case.
Expect exceptional multimedia performance with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor which runs at the impressive speed of 3.0GHz. With that speed, you can do heavy tasks, such as photo manipulation and video editing, and you’re system will still run smoothly. Finish your tasks in less time with this processor.
The barebone kit also includes a large-capacity Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA hard disk. For a multimedia computer, that space is definitely more than enough to contain all your files. Just so you can have an idea of how much files this hard disk can hold, here’s a concrete example: this HD can hold as much as 106 two-hour DVD-quality movies or 375 hours of VHS-quality video or 221 days of around-the-clock MP3 audio or 93,750 vivid digital photos or 533 action-packed games!
And guess what, this hard disk has a cache size of a whopping 16MB. Bigger cache means faster performance. Plus, it has a file transfer rate of 3000 Mb per second so you don’t need to wait for so long just to access your file.
And of course, you need to back up those files in case you accidentally erase your data. With a 20x DVD±RW optical driveincluded in this barebone kit, you can do that – and you can do that fast. This DVD burner can write as much as 4.7GB of data in 5 minutes! And one amazing feature of this DVD burner is that it has SMART-WRITE technology - a self-learning function, automatically detecting and deciding the optimal write strategy of DVD recordable media (DVD-RW & DVD-R) for the best quality.
This barebone kit includes stable memory—2048MB of PC6400 DDR Crucial Ballistix Dual Channel memory with a speed of 800MHz. No one wants interrupted gaming fun just because your memory fails to deliver exceptional performance. With this memory, you can do multiple multimedia tasks – play computer games, watch movies, stream videos, and work on your office tasks – and your computer will still be performing smoothly.
And all that are protected in the sleek-designed Ultra X-Blaster ATX Mid-Tower Case. This tower case will give you the security and protection your internal hardware needs, and at the same time, it provides convenience and expansion possibilities. This tower can make your life easier because it has front USB ports for faster connectivity to other devices and audio Ports for an easier access. It also comes with PowerUp GEN-6803 800-Watt Power Supply so you need not to worry about energy needs

I been meaning to leave a review for this MOBO since i've had it. Here goes...For what it's worth, this is a good board. Have had no problems with it at all. I'm running AMD 6000+ 3.1GHz, 8GBs ram, 8500gt 1GB(soon to be 9800 gtx+ 512GB) video, Vista Ultimate x64 system. It pays to do some research before you actually buy a product. Saves time, money and a lot of frustrations.

Support is non-existant. Came with onboard USB not working. I tried to contact ASUS in case I overlooked something obvious like a jumper or something and they 1) didn't get on an online support session, 2) didn't answer the phone, 3) never responded to an e-mail. A major, major gripe with me.
As far as the board goes, it has all the necessary bells and whistles and it works good. Takes forever to boot, though. SPDIF out is only 2-channel, which kind of defeats the purpose. Analog 7.1 to a receiver with line-in capability works well if you don't have it plugged in on a circuit with a dimmer switch. Line level output on a ciruit with a dimmer switch will give you a hum. Most everything was easy to set up. Audio drivers took some doing and it seems a little flakey with my ATI vid card. Probably designed with NVidia in mind.
Worth the super cheap price I paid but if I were building this machine for any real apps or a client and not just a toy I'd definitely go higher end.

Bought the board a couple weeks ago, everything works good as I would expect with an Asus board. good set of features for an inexpensive board, Audio sucks though.
SLI
MCPs | Motherboards To enable NVIDIA SLI technology in your PC, you'll need an SLI-Ready
certified motherboard with an nForce SLI MCP and two physical PCI Express
x16 slots. NVIDIA motherboard partners offer nForce SLI motherboards for
both AMD and Intel CPUs.
What is SLI Technology?
NVIDIA® SLI™ technology is a revolutionary platform innovation that allows
you to intelligently scale graphics performance by combining multiple
NVIDIA graphics solutions in a single system with an NVIDIA nForce® SLI
media and communications processor (MCP).
How Does SLI Technology Work?
Using proprietary software algorithms and dedicated scalability logic
in each NVIDIA graphics processing unit (GPU) and MCP, NVIDIA SLI technology
delivers up to twice the performance of a single graphics solution.
Note:
The NVIDIA SLI connector is not used with some mainstream graphics
cards.
3-way SLI motherboards must have 3 PCI-E x16 slots.
