Worth it!
I was needing to convert my VHS tapes to DVDs. This does the trick. ez to use and also will allow you to hook in any RCA cable to your computer and use it like a TV! So movies and games. Down side. when recording cant see it. but i Hooked up a tv to it and put in the headphones and all workds great.

Does capture, but that's about it.
Had no trouble installing the driver and software in XP. It captures ok but not great picture quality. The ArcSoft ShowBiz production software is horrible - very cheesy and I got no good results in any format. I was able to use the video clips in other software programs to produce video. But those programs won't recognize the capture source. All in all, I will be able to convert my VHS to DVD, but not the easiest and not the best quality.

Works well, Easy to use
It worked fine for me. Win7-64-Home Premium. Installed itself okay. Added one driver from the install disc that Win7 didn't catch. No picture at first as it was configured for PAL in setup. After that, it worked great. The one-touch record control is nice. Saved in WMV format for editing with WinMovieMaker from free MS Live download. For easier editing, Corel VideoStudio Pro X3-le is available here for $19.99 as of 6-18-2011.

Works well
I use it with Corel VideoStudio and it works perfectly. I've been transferring old VHS tapes to DVD before the tape dies. LOL

Works Great
I bought one of these for transferring VHS to DVD. At first I was disappointed with scan lines across the bottom, but I changed the quality setting to DVD and it cleared things up. We also use it when traveling and find ourselves in a place without a TV (we do a lot of off-the-beaten-path traveling) I connect our portable DVD player to the laptop using this. Yeah, we could just play on the laptop DVD, but ths unit allows us to use the remote for the portable DVD player and we also get better sound.

Great value, it works
Great product, and works as well as any Windoz device can be expected to work... you have to be patient and troubleshoot at times. Sometimes you have to unplug and replug to reset it...

Transfer goes well
The device is rapidly and effectively transferring our old library of VCR training tapes onto DVD disks. Set up was not intuitive for my (nontechnical) assistant, but when I got the cabling done right things went smoothly. We used the Diamond software so we had no problems recounted elsewhere in these reviews. No stereo capability.

Does the job
Pros: This device does the job. I have not had any problems with transferring my old vhs tapes. Windows 7 immediately found the driver so there is no need to install the driver that is on the disc.
