Kingston 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz SODIMM Memory
DDR2 is the next-generation evolution of DDR memory technology. DDR2 memory features faster speeds, higher data bandwidths, lower power consumption and enhanced thermal performance. In 2004, DDR2 will be launched on desktops, servers, notebooks, telecommunications / networking and other platforms.
What's New with DDR2
DDR2 memory was developed by JEDEC, the memory industry's standards organization of which Kingston is a member company. DDR2 memory chips and modules use a naming convention similar to that used for the current DDR memory modules, but are not backward compatible due to incompatible module connections (number of pins), voltage and DRAM technology. DDR2 memory modules have a different key or notch than the same-sized DDR modules to prevent their insertion into an incompatible memory socket.
DDR2 memory chips will be available in Fine-pitch BGA (FBGA) chip packages for improved electrical and thermal characteristics. In addition, DDR2 memory chips will incorporate On-Die Termination (ODT) to minimize memory signal reflections at high speeds, thereby improving timing margins. DDR2 memory chips will come in capacities up to 4 Gigabits, allowing for higher-capacity modules

Helped my Netbook
I installed this in my Toshiba netbook and it really did make a difference in its performance speed. Installation was pretty easy. I've never tried doing anything like this before, but I don't want to buy a newer computer. I looked on Youtube and found a tutorial that exactly matched the netbook I have. I noticed in other reviews that people said to stick with Kingston and I am glad I did. I will try to upgrade my laptop now.

One of the Few
I have an Emtec Gdium notebook which came with 512M PC 5300 SO-DIMM and an OS compiled for the Loongson 2F processor (a 64-bit MIPS). I tried two other memory sticks of 2G before this, and neither worked properly (one was PC-5300 and the other PC-6400). This worked immediately and seems to be totally compatible with the CPU's built-in memory controller.

Another worry-free Kingston install
Never had a bad stick of Kingston RAM. It's memory. It works. It speeded up my daughter's netbook. What more is there to say?
