Large capacity basic HDD

Good for large capacity storage at a great price. bought 2 of these and put in a mirrored RAID configuration, considering switching to a data striping config. for better performance. They aren't that quick though, they perform right around average, and they're average on noise too. will be adding an additional 2 of the 1.5 TB to my system in the near future. 7 months and still working great with at least 216hrs of system up time.

Seagate (now Maxtor as well) make the most reliable HDD. I always use the programs on Seagate.com to install these drives, and have never had a problem. MaxBlast or SeaTools work great. Install the program, install the hardware and run the program to format and set up. Voila!

Great, while it worked. Ordered 11-17-08, failed 12-28-08. Computer rebooted when it failed and then would not completely start until drive was removed, computer restarted, then drive re-attached. Was using on old giga-byte socket A motherboard that only supported 150. With the drive reattached, it showed up as a 32MB drive, which appeared to be the buffer. PartitionMagic showed the drive as bad.

I ordered (2) 1 TB Seagates to replace WD 500's in Monster Mobile external usb(WD drives failed shortly after warranty period) Used Seagate software from their website to format as 2 TB drive. Works great for video editing on XP sp2 desktop or Vista notebook. 5 times the warranty of most brands and great price.
