I've had this router for more than a year and have never had any problems. It has never locked up, the wireless signal is optimal, and it has never dropped any wireless or wired connections. I repair computers for a living and always have a minimum of 5 laptops connected wirelessly and at least 3 wired computers too and have never ever had problems. This router is by far the best of the best. I've tried Linksys and D-Link but they game me constant fits and were very unstable. NetGear is #1 in my opinion. I've done port scans while connected to NetGear and it shows I am stealthed whereas the Linksys and D-Link always says there are open/closed ports found. Bravo for NetGear!!!

Not sure why this router is receiving poor reviews. I have it and sure it has locked up a couple times but it runs non stop and thats in the span of about a year. This isnt bad considering my experiences with more expensive routers. A simple unplug / replug always fixes it. The range and speed is actually surprisingly good. For the price it cant be beat but I only paid around $25.

I bought a brand new router, and a brand new adapter for my PC. Let me be the first to say DO NOT GET THIS FOR A PC! This router has just enough coverage to cover my upstairs, but even with the PC in the coverage zone, the router gives poor speed. This router is not made for downloading movies, games, music, etc. This was made for people that want an easy installable router, and instant internet in your home anywhere within 25 feet. PCs are not made for this because with a laptop you can at least move it to where you get best reception. Good Router, but if you want speed and quality, go with Wireless N.

Made the mistake of going cheap!!! This router is easy to set up, software upgrading is a piece of cake from the website. However...the router is a piece of junk. The signal never gets completely dropped, but it doesn't stay active long enough for detailed websites or downloads. Pictures on websites only partially open. Downloads always quit halfway through. Any website with flash or detailed video fails to work. Because its a referb., tech support is non existent. (not that they could help anyway) The router is simply not reliable.

I took a gamble and bought a refurb'd one. I rolled a snake eyes. Downloading the software from the website and installing it was easy enough.(Though computer novices might find it challenging.) The router worked great for one week. I leave it powered on 24x7. After the 2nd week signal degradation or just dropping out was a recurring problem. It didnt matter if I had my wireless laptop 4 ft or 24 ft away, the signal would not stabilize, even though our desktop pc connected to the same DSL line never lost internet connectivity or signal strength. I even had AT&T test my DSL lines up to my house and DSL router. Don't waste yer time and money on the refurb'd ones. Hopefully the USRobotics replacement I have coming will work better.

I own two of these routers. Refurbished or not, you do not need to install software on your computer to get these to work. If you have some networking knowledge, you should be able to set them up. Both of the routers are rock stable and have great range.
The newer revisions of this model even support WPA2, so security is great, especially for the price.

I purchased a refurbished unit. What a mistake. Never got it to work properly. No software comes with unit. It's almost impossible to find the software required for installation. My recommendation...''Never purchase a used unit.'' It is not worth the trouble. If you wish to throw your money away I'll send you my address.
