I did not detect any background noise with these speakers, as some other reviewers noted (?). They sound fantastic to me for the money! |

''OUTSTANDING'' These speakers are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard on any computer and on many home stereo systems. Altec Lansing created a great product. Speakers work great, no noise like the others are saying. They should adjust them and where they sit. Great sound from acompact well priced speaker |

Just got this speaker system and I didn't know what to expect for the price but for computer speakers these sound very good once I figured out there was a treble controle on the side. I have primium stereo equipment and I like the deep base and crisp highs these speakers produce. Nice looking and sounding little speaker system with low THD (Total Hormic Distortion). As for the people complaining about cell phones making noise on the speakers this can happen on any speaker system even happens on the cerwin Vegas I have on my expensive stereo system CB radios will also induce audio into speakers if it is close enough to the speaker. Overall good performance for the price. The wire acts like an antenna. |

YES! Listen to these other buyers when they mention the noise this speaker system makes. Mine make a constant background noise, as well as loud noise when I use my cell phone. Obviously both are caused by signal interference with the other devices I use and not necessarily something wrong with the speakers themselves. BUT, it makes no difference if your chances of getting this similar frequency interference noise are so high. Skip this system and get something else. |

get this wierd litle noise in them i dont know what causes it but i hooked up my cheapy gateway speakers just to see and they make no noise the noise is like low popping constant sound just enought to be annouying |

just got my speakers in the mail. could not wait to connect them. i had purchased some from bestbuy those did not even compare to these that ordered from here. the bestbuy speakers cost more and could not perform to 1/2 of what these altec lansing did. very impressed by the speakers and i chosed these speakers because of the reviews that read. thank you once again and i am a believer, now. Sorry to be the negative guy, but these speakers are worthless. They interfere with my cell phone and also with my home VOIP line, so I can't use them at home or at work. If you call people with tin cans and strings, have at 'em. Otherwise pick something else. |

These speakers are excellent and well worth $40. I've had them for nearly a year and have had no problems at all and continue to enjoy and appreciate them. The sound quality is excellent. The only problem that I have wouldn't even apply to everyone; for those that have GSM cell phones (AT&T or T-Mobile), signals from your phone when receiving a call or text message will cause the ''GSM buzz'' to emit from the speakers and it is very hard on the ears. If you think you'll have a problem with this, look for speakers that are magnetically shielded. However this is hardly a deal breaker. Compare the specs before you decide to go cheaper. |
