TomTom One GPS Navigation - 3.5" Touch Screen (Refurbished)

I bought this unit from the Woodbine-Markham (Canada) location in October 2007, and its by far been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. Excellent performance, used it for trips to the Maryland (US) and within the city (GTA) and its been amazing. Recently got a Nextar, which by far my TOMTOM is better than. For the bucks/affordability, you cannot go wrong. I wonder how I coped without my TOMTOM before now. Bye bye MAPQUEST.

Not sure which version this One is, but I have a 2nd edition and a 3rd edition. Both new out of the box, both work great. Never had a problem with either one of them. However I would agree that the maps need some updating. I did get one free upgrade with my 3rd edition, but not for my 2nd. Also you would think that a 3rd edition would be better then the 2nd edition, but not so. The 2nd edition has more features then the 3rd. The 3rd edition however shows logo icons for POI rather then just an icon.

I was very pleased with the performance of this unit despite some quirks. I recently traded it off in order to upgrade to the Tom Tom One XL. I bought it in Sept 2007 and used it for six months. It got me right to my destination several times, even when that was ''out in the sticks.'' However, I flew from the upper midwest to the west coast and it failed to function there at all, resetting itself repeatedly. When I came back, it returned to working fine on its home turf. Then it went through another period of re-booting and me having to answer all the start-up questions all over again, but finally came out of that on its own. After I downloaded updates from the internet, it started producing the red message “File access error: Cannot store settings,” but everything I could find seemed to store just fine. Well, it appears I may have got the one ewdixon returned above. The first one I got wouldn't even turn on, so I exchanged it for one that apparently did turn on, but only about 2 minutes, and then it resets. Wouldn't find a satellite to save it's life, let alone the 4 it requires to get a fix. Tomtom support is nonexistent on a sunday, which is when I purchased this piece of junk. I will promptly return this unit for a refund tomorrow morning.

Extremely easy to setup. I've gor a blackberry perl with GPRS. So, naturally I wanted to try the TOMTOM pls services. Well, unfortunately, the TOMTOM does not support the blackberry PERL, so I wan't able to try out the plus services
