I bought this to build a small server. It does require you to use the molex pigtails included with the kit to power the LEDs and fans. Server has been running for 2 months and no problems with fan noise or overheating drives. |

The unit does not have one 4 pin molex on the back. It has three 4 pin connectors that require you to use the pigtail cables they supply. For the lights and fans to work you must have 3 extra molex connectors to plug into the pigtail, goes to sata and then to special 4 pin for lights. you can't use the sata power connectors from your power supply and have the lights and fans work. The power supply I have has 4 molex and 4 sata, I opted to not use the lights and fans, I connected sata power cables to unit and works fine. I didn't want a case full of unused sata connectors and Y cables in order to have enough molex connectors. Unit is fairly well built, except for small fans, serves my purpose, lights would have been nice. |

This is a nice product and very handy to be able to so easily access all three drives. The only reason I give quality a 4 is for the fact that I had to change out the cooling fans after a while of use. The lower fan started making noise and slowed down. After replacing both fans, it works flawlessly. |

Bought this so I can easily move drives around as I use them as backup media as opposed to DVD-Rs etc as I find they fail faster then HDDs. Only issue I have is the built in fans die fast!! 1 month of running and they are grinding like crazy!! Also would like a little more breathing room for air flow on the vents as you can tell the fans struggle with on the doors closed.

The product is a great idea especially for backups. The reason for the poor score: Bought 2 of these units and within 6 months 1 bay quit working in one unit and 2 bays quit working in the other. I would look for a better brand. |
