I purchased this processor for my own built system, mother board is a Asus A8R-MVP, with dual ATI X1950 Crossfire graphics cards, 4gig ram, moved up from single processor to this one to help with my online game of Lord Of The Rings. Boy, wow, what a difference this cpu made. My game plays much, much better, this really does connect all of the systems boards components to work together faster. I have always picked AMD over intel when building my systems, they have always proven to be a much better cpu, at a much bette value too. |

YES, do bother! Great processor at a great price. You will see improvement, be sure you benchmark with a program that uses BOTH cores! Try the 30 day trial of the new Pathmark.com version 6. I upgraded from Athlon 64 3200 to this processor on Asus A8N-VM mobo. I see about a 50% improvement in pure number crunching and about 20% improvement overall. I added another gig of memory and boosted another 10% overall. I am using on-board video, so my overall scores could have been better if I had a good video system. Do your homework, check your bios, check mobo and use benchmark software that is dual-core compatible. Also see AMD web site for some cool processor monitoring tools or use TaskInfo so you can see both cores at work! |

Yes this CPU is worth the money it runs great and all althought...... When it came i was very happy to get it and wanted to put it in right away, no! i couldnt because first of all i had to go buy some thermal paste because it didnt come with any and secondly it took me about 30-45minutes to fix the pins that were bent, yes about 15 pins were bent when it was right out of the box i hadent even touch it, im not blaming Tiger direct for this but UPS one was really badly bent i was even scared to break it.. anyways it didnt cost much so i guess that what you get when u pay that much. it runs 50 degrees celcius with my stock fan that came with my sempron 3200+ |

Don't bother! My AMD 3700 performed better according to PassMark benchmark performance tests. Maybe I'm not accessing the capabilities of the dual core, but I consider this the worst $80.00 I ever spent! I would have been FAR ahead to stash the $ away & bought another complete system & achieved true ''dual cores''. |
