Cisco WAP200 Wireless Access Point with PoE
RangeBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G which increases your wireless network's range up to two times, and its throughput by up to 35%. Unlike ordinary wireless technologies that are confused by signal reflections, RangeBooster uses two smart receivers at each end to detect and decode reflected signals at distances where standard technologies give up. You'll find that "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area are reduced, too. The Advanced security features makes this solution ideal for your Business. Advanced wireless security using Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA2 Enterprise) with up to 256-bit encryption, and the new Wireless Security Monitoring functionality gives your business the visibility and protection it needs. Used when Linksys 200-Series Wireless Adapters are present, the Wireless Security Monitoring functionality alerts you of possible wireless intruders, vulnerabilities in the wireless deployment, and visibility into Denial of Service attacks.
What It Is and Why You Need It:
- RangeBooster technology; double your wireless network's range and increase its throughput by up to 35%
- Wi-Fi Protected Access; utilizes up to 256-bit encryptionto give your business the protection it needs
- Access Point; connect Wireless-G (802.11g) and Wireless-B (802.11b) devices
The Cisco WAP200 Access Point lets you connect Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to your wired network so you can add PCs to the network with no cabling hassle. Power over Ethernet support makes it easy to install -- you can mount the Access Point anywhere, even without ready access to a power plug. With appropriate Power Over Ethernet support at the other end, you only need to run one cable to the Access Point to deliver both data and power. Of course, you can also use the included AC adapter if your installation point has power available nearby.

Not a good experience
Acquired this unit for connecting production product. Every time the unit powered up,I could not see the SSID. Had to connect the unit to my PC with a crossover cable and the SSID would magically appear. The antennas are also prone to loosening. This unit worked for for a short time and then just quit (low signal strength).

Very Disappointed
I purchased 3 Cisco WAP200 units for our factory. I immediately had to return one due to a broken antenna. After installation, one WAP200 failed within a month. The replacement unit just failed after a couple months. The conditions are not harsh where the units were. We have had 3 bad WAP200 units out of 4. I would not recomment this product to a friend. On a good note... setup of this product was quite easy.

TOP SHELF Business class WAP
Can't understand the whiney reviews I am seeing about this WAP. I took out of the box, and had it configged NOT using any manual within 20 minutes. This brand of gear just plain WORKS!!! Reliable, EXCELLENT Range (in a metal stud office building), and the POE is a bonus you WON'T find on most other WAP's in this price range. Sleep real good at night knowing it's a reliable and dependable WAP and the client is a happy camper, which is the most important thing!!

good product, but
Great item, but set up documentation is severly lacking. Had to set up account with cisco to call tech support. Support was great and quicky solved the issue but a more complete set up guide would sure be helpful.

Not a Plug & Play device!
This WAP was purchased as a replacement for an old dead Linksys unit. Several problems ensued. (1) Original unit arrived with loose & damaged antenna connectors. (2) Install CD on warranty-exchanged item would not work (3) Wired D-Link router IP address had to be changed in order to see the Cisco product. (4) Weak broadcast range - barely able to reach 50.' (5) Unstable enough to require several reboots after installation. All in all, disappointing. Had to spend $265 in 2 local tech support visits to get it to work. (First, most expensive visit was wasted on trying to configure original defective unit). My advice: instead of messing with adding a WAP to a wired router, just buy or replace your setup with a strong wireless router and avoid the hassle of mix & match on two devices.
