This product feels like a hack job. It struggles to connect to wifi networks and the sound is quite choppy for the person on the receiving end. To top it off, the interface is very clunky (why do you need to be online to delete a contact? I will never understand).
I was hoping for a computer-free skype solution, but this is definitely not it.

returned this product as it kept losing connection. Sound was poor. Also kept freezing up. Keys were small and keys had to be repeatedly pressed.
Excellent Product

Setting it up on my wireless network was simple and the phone works very well. It's great to have it because I'm longer tied to my computer to make or receive a phone call.

Even though this product works anywhere with WIFI, it is primarily a phone designed for home WIFI. It works fine when calling out or receiving calls from other Skype phones, landline phones or mobile phones (US and Canada). Calling out to European cell phones (not Skype) did not work well for me. Battery does not last long and recharging is cumbersome (you have to insert the end of the charger at the bottom of the phone unit). A recharging station would be a nice improvement.
It's ok.

I find with this product there is a 10sec or so latency when calling a landline or cell phone. When they pick up, you can't hear them talk because the phone hasn't realized there is a connection.
This is a very simple to use product, but it's only really good if you are calling Skype contacts.
There is no option to txt, which is a disapointment, because I was going to cancel my cell plan, but can't do that without some sort of txting on this phone.

This purchase turned out to be a MAJOR disappointment....If the phone was made by Honda, Nike or Burger King, then I would have accepted the poor design and quality. But the phone is made by Dlink, Dlink makes great stuff, with the exception of this phone.
The buttons are way too small, drops calls on, and the battery life is terrible. This phone should retail for $29.99 not the advertised price.
Also cannot adjust volume to hear calls, only volume of call ringer.

I am disappointed with this phone.
It wasn't clear when I bought it that it could not do Skype Instant Messaging. It's phone only.
It also does not work with wireless internet services that require web-based authentication which, when you're traveling, is absolutely everywhere.
The Boingo integration is basically worthless, because of the high cost of boingo service. You would be better of using a cell phone than to get a pricy Boingo subscription.
The screen only supports Western characters, even though Skype supports unicode. So if you have friends in, say the Ukraine or Russia, that have written their Skype name in Cyrillic chacters, all you seen on the Belkin handset screen where their names should be is a bunch of little boxes.
Overall, very disappointing purchase. Might as well just buy a wifi enabled cell phone and download a Skype service add-in for it.

I used this phone to test the skype network in the US, and Costa Rica. It worked flawlessly in Put-in-Bay WiFi (AmericasLink.us), Ft Lauderdale free wifi in the airport, Jaco Costa Rica, and San Jose Costa Rica. My Call times in the test areas from the US, and Costa Rica ranged from 5~110 minutes per call. This also worked great in home and work WiFi's. This unit has an extended battery from the factory.
