Best product for Top Dolllar
I'd go with this product for at least a year until they get all the kinks at of 7. Even if they cost the same I would choose this older version.
Still the best!.
Even to this day, when I need to purchase a new desktop or laptop, my number one criteria in determining what make or model to buy is if I can run this system on it, instead of whatever it ships with. I wouldn't touch anything they've made since this. All garbage. This, is all you need.
XP Above All Else
I'm tired of hearing people complain about how Vista or 7 is better than XP. It's not. You can't compare the quality of an OS based on your opinion. Unless you have a computer running multiple OS's and have performed all performance tweaks on each OS, you can't speculate. If you do this, you will see that XP benchmarks higher than Vista or 7 in nearly all aspects. It is true that in 2014 XP will no longer be supported by MS, but who cares? I already have my copy. If you want an overrated OS that FEELS faster, go with vista or 7. XP is the OS that gives you better raw performance.
A classic, but obsolete
I'd recommend instead buying Win7 Pro or Ultimate, because if all else fails you have downgrade rights to XP when using those two editions. With this you do not have upgrade rights. In theory, you shouldn't even be able to buy this anymore, I don't know these guys are still allowed to sell this!
I've NEVER had driver problems with Vista or 7, but then again I don't expect a ten year old bottom of the line printer where the manufacturer no longer exists to be supported.
I've used XP, Vista and Windows 7 extensively, and I still use all three of them on a regular basis, and with Windows 7's XP Mode, you can run anything you could run before on it, plus it does more than XP. Watch that you buy a system with a processor that supports XP mode, all AMDchips support it, but even some brand new Intelchips don't support it. Check the list to be completely sur
Way better than Vista
I have to laugh at the newbs talking about how Vista is better than XP. I have NEVER had a problem with XP and have installed it on many people's systems without fail. My network is primarily XP with a dual boot machine with XP and Vista. Always have driver problems when Vista is booted up. Have never had any crashing problems with XP. Bought a personal laptop with Vista on it to play around on and ended up putting XP on it because it was rotten.
