The Most Reliable Operating System!
By building on the proven Windows® 2000 operating system, Windows® XP Professional
delivers a reliable foundation you can count on to keep your computer up and
running when you need it most. Not only is Windows® XP more reliable, it also
helps you more easily recover from system problems. Windows® XP Professional
delivers the new standard in reliability and performance. This operating system
is designed for businesses of all sizes and for users who demand the most from
their computing experience.**
Benefits
Designed for reliability, security and privacy, high performance, and ease of use, the Windows® XP operating system provides a host of benefits for business and home users. A clean and simple desktop, rock-solid reliability, and easy-to-use features that take advantage of the digital age all contribute to the value of Windows® XP.
Enhancements in real-time voice, video, and data communications will allow the PC to become a center of communications and creativity beyond just e-mail and instant messaging. Windows® XP will also allow the user to connect back to the desktop from any location, and support for new wireless networks will be built in. Windows® XP will unify the user's support experience by enabling the user to provide temporary and secure control of their PC over the Internet to whomever can best help them.
Windows® XP takes an end-to-end approach to how people transfer videos and pictures onto their computer, how they use them on their PC and other devices, and how they share them, whether in person or through e-mail, over the Web, or through removable media like DVDs and CDs. It extends this experience through applications that help users buy music and videos, mobile devices, services for saving your music on the Internet, and more. Windows® XP will make it easier for households to share a single PC and share pictures, music, files, printers, and other resources.
Note: This version of Microsoft Windows XP cannot be upgraded from earlier versions of Windows. If your operating system is Windows 2000/ME/98 you must backup your data before installation. This OEM version will only allow a clean Install, and your existing data will be deleted.

- Designed for businesses of all sizes
- Manage digital pictures, music, video, DVDs, and more

THIS PRODUCT SHIPS IN OEM PACKAGING - GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN
Manufacturers sometimes offer discounts when large quantities of products are purchased without fancy, colorful, retail packaging. We take advantage of these opportunities to bring you the same quality, retail product at a lower price. Retail packaging is designed to look good on a store shelf and attract your attention. It frequently includes more paper, plastic and cardboard than needed. OEM packaging is not as visually attractive but is far more economical and because OEM packaging uses less paper, plastic, ink and cardboard it creates less waste and is better for the environment. Although OEM packaged product ships in a plain white or brown box you can be assured it is the same quality product as the retail packaged version. Buying OEM packaged products saves you money and helps save the planet…GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN. Included accessories, software, documentation, and manufacturer warranties on OEM products may vary from retail versions. Please review our detailed specifications and photo gallery for included accessories and see below for warranty information.

I'd go with this product for at least a year until they get all the kinks at of 7. Even if they cost the same I would choose this older version.

Still the best!.
Even to this day, when I need to purchase a new desktop or laptop, my number one criteria in determining what make or model to buy is if I can run this system on it, instead of whatever it ships with. I wouldn't touch anything they've made since this. All garbage. This, is all you need.

XP Above All Else
I'm tired of hearing people complain about how Vista or 7 is better than XP. It's not. You can't compare the quality of an OS based on your opinion. Unless you have a computer running multiple OS's and have performed all performance tweaks on each OS, you can't speculate. If you do this, you will see that XP benchmarks higher than Vista or 7 in nearly all aspects. It is true that in 2014 XP will no longer be supported by MS, but who cares? I already have my copy. If you want an overrated OS that FEELS faster, go with vista or 7. XP is the OS that gives you better raw performance.

A classic, but obsolete
I'd recommend instead buying Win7 Pro or Ultimate, because if all else fails you have downgrade rights to XP when using those two editions. With this you do not have upgrade rights. In theory, you shouldn't even be able to buy this anymore, I don't know these guys are still allowed to sell this! I've NEVER had driver problems with Vista or 7, but then again I don't expect a ten year old bottom of the line printer where the manufacturer no longer exists to be supported. I've used XP, Vista and Windows 7 extensively, and I still use all three of them on a regular basis, and with Windows 7's XP Mode, you can run anything you could run before on it, plus it does more than XP. Watch that you buy a system with a processor that supports XP mode, all AMDchips support it, but even some brand new Intelchips don't support it. Check the list to be completely sur

Way better than Vista
I have to laugh at the newbs talking about how Vista is better than XP. I have NEVER had a problem with XP and have installed it on many people's systems without fail. My network is primarily XP with a dual boot machine with XP and Vista. Always have driver problems when Vista is booted up. Have never had any crashing problems with XP. Bought a personal laptop with Vista on it to play around on and ended up putting XP on it because it was rotten.
