Maxtor / DiamondMax 21 / 320GB / 7200 / 16MB / ATA-100 / EIDE / RoHS / OEM / Hard Drive

Just bought this puppy for my first compuet build. BioStar GForce 6100, AMD 64 x2 4200 2.2 GHz, 1 gig DDR2 800MHz RAM, and this hard drive. Wicked fast ! This is one of the quietest hard drives I have ever encountered !

First time installing a hard drive using Windows XP. I found the process on initializing and formatting a little cumbersome. I had to go to the Maxtor (now Seagate) website for help, which was exceptional. This should not, however, reflect on the drive. It runs great and worked on my Dell 4600 which was supposed to be limited to a 250 GB max drive. I would recommend this drive and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

This is the quietest drive I've ever been around. You'll wonder if you made the correct power connections. Oh, BTW, it works well. I was disappointed to see it was made in Malaysia, but that has been the only disappointment.

Very Very Happy and Satisfied. I was a nothing but Western Digital man. No one could ever convince me to ever buy anything else but Western Digital. Well, I received this Maxtor Drive as a gift 4 few months ago. I have been so pleased with its fast access, silent performance, its ease of installation (download the installation software from www.maxtor.com), and solid stability, that I just purchased one for my wife. THIS HARDDRIVE IS GREAT, and very trustworthy. I think that it is faster becouse of the 16 MB buffer. Most only use a 8 MB buffer. The only negative thing I can say is that for the first week it whistled the slightest little bit during access. But that smoothed out within a week. In fact, I'm sure I wouldnt even have noticed that before I upgraded all the fans in my pc to the most absolute silent available. A GREAT BUY. GREAT PRICE. GREAT PERFORMANCE.
