Receive real-time updates when a Registered Sex Offender registers and moves into your neighborhood. The application immediately alerts you, based on pre-selected location criteria- exact address, a cross street, and a radius. A map will appear which displays your location in relation to all the sex offenders within the pre-selected area. Also receive geo-coded Amber Alerts.

If a sex offender moves into, within or moves out of the user’s geographic location, the user will be notified by:

• An email sent to their inbox
• A text message sent to their cell phone
• The application icon, which will reside on the computer system tray, will pop up a message.

There are over 500,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. SearchHelp, which is committed to child and family safety on the Internet, is also determined to make sure parents know where these sex offenders live.

Once the application is downloaded, a small ribbon icon will reside in the system tray next to the computer’s clock. Each user should login, enter their zip code, address or cross street and a radius. Once this is done, a map will appear and show the location for each sex offender in relation to where the user lives. Click on an offender's icon and see their image, exact address, first and last name with alias, age, height, gender and any information relating to their arrest and conviction.

The database is updated automatically and each user will be notified instantly if any sex offender changes their address or if any new offender moves into the pre-selected area. The entire Sentry Predator Locator database can be searched instantly and as often as needed. Our database also uses automated image enhancing technology to ensure the best possible photos. Search using radius settings from 1 to 100 miles. The Advanced Search feature allow users to search using all or any combination of the following: first name, last name, alias, address, city and state, zip, gender, age, height and many more.

Background of the Registered Sex Offender Law
Congress passed three laws that require States to monitor registered sex offenders; the Wetterling Sex Offender Registration Act, the Lynchner Tracking and Identification Act and Megan's Law. In March 2003, the Supreme Court ruled that information about registered sex offenders may be posted on the Internet.

The Problem with the Current Sex Offender Law
Information on registered sex offenders is available directly from local police departments and on most state and local government websites. It is public information. Locating that information can be very difficult, and in most cases, very complicated.

In some jurisdictions, you must know the name of the individual for whom you are looking, and some states require you to go to your local police department and complete a request form. Additionally, some states charge a fee and limit the number of sex offenders to be viewed each time. Lastly, in most cases each state displays the information differently.
