I just couldn't get a good signal in one room especially with the entire neighbourhood setting up wireless network per house. It was very easy to install (plug in to the wall, then plug in the cable), and works very well.
Remove from box, plug in, that's it

This is a Mac household, so the Windows software disk to set up encryption was tossed out. I'm not worried about signal being sent up and down the street anyway :-) Just plug the XE103Gs into wall sockets and you've got a network. They work anywhere in my house. Forget what speed I get - not 85 Mbps - but it's plenty.
Room was possessed !

We have a very good wireless network thru our home - everything worked everywhere, but ONE DOWNSTAIRS room. Nothing we did would give us a good, consistence signal. Finally we bought these adapters - very simple set-up, and have not lost the signal once. Highly recommended !

I bought these for a test at my work for customers who wanted a cheap solution for wi-fi without running cables everywhere. My customer had a very thick metal and stone wall which kills wi-fi signal but hook this up on the other side and add an additional access point you can expand the wireless without drilling holes to run additional cable. Next step is to see if these can connect a building which has power running off the main building.

This is the best networking solution out there. I have had 3 different wireless routers in my home. Some rooms wouldnt get any signal and other rooms were intermittent. I was going to have a wired system installed in my home till I learned about this product. I have several of the units around my home. I have 1 in my detached garage and it works great. Also have an Xbox360 connected to it. I play online games without any problems. I even stream movies through Netflix on my Xbox without any problems.

The concept is great, however, it would not work on some outlets in my house. Once I did get them connected, I usually got 7-12 Mbps, far from the advertised 85 Mbps. The connection was very intermittent, often disconnecting within about 30 seconds to a minute. At the most, I was connected for about five minutes. Netgear customer support was a little painful trying to get through the accents of the customer support representatives. Maybe for a small apartment/condominium this may be a good option, but for an average size house of 1700 square feet, it just didn't work.

I bought this kit a month ago and they've been working flawlessly. They were a snap to set up -- I did have to try a few outlets to find the ones with the best connection -- and I haven't had to touch them since. Much faster and more reliable than the wireless link to the basement that they replaced. Highly recommended (although I do think they're overpriced, but hey, you can't have everything).

My wireless router has to be in the basement, but the signal is not strong enough to reach the 2nd floor. I gave this a try. Through it was a little bit more expensive, it worked out of the box. According to the software that came with the package, I was getting 49Mbps which is more than enough for home DSL. The connection was reliable. I played Battlefield 2142 with it and it had no lag. YMMV through.
