excellent pord
installed and went alive 1 hour after unpacked, runs in good condition and easy to config, excellent for SOHO. what need improved are : 1. poor performance for the admin UI with slow response. 2. Extended HDD(by it's USB interface) could not be shared by some reason, please let me know if any body solved this problem. but it is still valuable.

The best I have found so far in this price range
I have sold and serviced three of these units now. We currently have two of them running in our office (20 workstations connected) - each with (4) 1tb Seagate drives. After three years, we just had one of the drives fail, the Raid 5 system worked perfectly, replaced drive and never had downtime. For the price, I don't think you can beat it. Have used HP, Iomegga, and Maxtor NAS appliances and have had major issues(this price range only). One issue: Cooling fan for case could be better, stronger, faster RPM. Only issue I have had is with replacing cooling fans. However, in a rack system with a cooling tray above it, not an issue.

Not happy
I'll be returning mine, too slow, hangs frequently, I had RAID5 issues. Just glad it happened now rather than 6 months down the road when I had everything on it.

Do not Buy
I got this device when it was on sale to be my home NAS and as such my expectation were lower than a business. However i found this device to have a lot of flaws such as below. 1. 4 drive of 2tb each on raid 5 took over 50 hours to build - slow performance. 2. usb copy option has never worked 3. many feature such as AFP would stop working and they had to be recycled to make it work again. 4. Application module information is lacking documentation to understand what they can be used for and when you do figure it out. browser compatability issues appear. 5. iphone apps do not work and the most important i opened a ticket with the vendor to get support after i have upgrade device firmware and application module versions; the response i got was a thanks for supporting thecus without any real support or direction how to fix the problem. I am arranging a return label. DO NOT BUY, i will not try QNAP or DROBO....
