I bought this system back in December 07 and it hasn't proved it's worth. I like many other buyers was drawn to it by the large screen. That is by far the best quality of the system. Once i got the system running. It was great. For about a month. Then it started locking up on me. I would have to continuously re-boot it to get to allow me to use the navigation portion of the system. I never figured out what format the audo, video and pictures should be and now, the system just locks on the main screen. This thing has been more hassel than help. I bought a Tom Tom 720 GO at the same time and it hasn't failed me yet. If i hadn't lost my receipt I would definitely take this thing back to the store and get my money back. I wouldn't recommend this system to anyone. You'd be better off with a MAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tested this unit for 2 months. The 7'' screen is great and the manufacturer support is good. Two major draw backs on the unit though: 1) the lack of battery power means every time I ignite my car it will turn itself off and on again, then I need to re-enter my destination and wait for the route calculation; 2) The software that came with the unit (ver 4.0 disc) was crappy. I asked for an update and the manufacturer quickly sent me the ver 4.1 disc along with a 2GB SD card for the larger updated map. But the new software took so much longer to lock onto GPS signal that I have already traveled a few blocks down the road before it locks onto the signal. Admittedly once locked the new software is great improvement over the old one, and it has multiple languages (including Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese) too. The software is based on the Smart-2-Go software developed by Nokia and it has great potential but at this stage it is still immature compared to Garmin or other big names.

Bought this on a whim. I've used mostly PC based GPS systems in the past, and all of them have their quirks. I bought this one solely because of the 7 inch screen. No, it's not perfect, but then no GPS unit I've seen is. So far, I've only used it to navigate to and from places where I know the route and it has performed flawlessly. Admittedly, it didn't always pick the route I would have chosen, and it does have a few ''glitches'' (such as telling me to get off the highway and back on again at the same exit when my destination is far beyond that exit), but I've seen those same things on units costing three times the price. We'll have to see how well the device lasts, but for now, I'm giving it 4 stars overall.

Bought this a couple weeks ago from Tiger Direct and absolutely hate it. I have used about 6 different navigation systems and this is by far the worst one. I can put my address in this unit and be parked 500 feet from my driveway and it will still want to guide me ''19 MILES OUT OF MY WAY to get to my house. There are some new roads in my area and when you go off course it keeps wanting to take you back to the last road it has in it's data base. Problem is when it shows that you are back on the recognized road it is still wanting to guide you back to that raod 10 miles back. This thing is complete trash, I am sending this one back!

The unit just locks up and have to be rebooted every time it stops. That is very risky while one is driving. On one of the review some one wrote that they can get 4 satelites inside the house but my question is how can someone pickup 4 satelites in home with no battery backup? The tech. support is practically ZERO, as when you call the number it goes on voice mail which remains full at all time and one can't put additional information for call back. I even called TigerDirect rep. and asked him to veryfy and he too verified that he couldn't get any tech. support. I had to return the unit back and THANKS to TigerDirect for prompt refund. I wouldn't advice anyone to go for this unit, instead go for GARMIN.

GPS Terms You Should
Know!
GPS - Global Positioning System (Device) - Is a device that works
with the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) developed by the US
Dept. of Defense. It is the only fully functional GNSS in the world,
and uses a constellation of between 24 and 32 Medium Earth Orbit
satellites that transmit precise signals allowing GPS receivers to
determine their current location, the exact time, and their velocity.
Also known as a Personal Navigation Device, Navigational System, GPS Receiver,
or GPS Navigator.
System - The GPS Device itself.
Navigation - Is the process of
locating your current position, establishing your destination, and
controlling the direction and movement of a vehicle from one place to
another.
Compass - A device or feature of a GPS receiver
that shows your current direction.
Map - A map (or chart)
is a visual representation of an area, showing different objects or
landmarks; such as: streets, buildings, locations, and points of
interest.
Trip - A trip is the travel from point A to
point B.
Point of Interest - A POI is a recorded
location within the GPS Device, either pre-defined, or that can be
end-user entered. Usually these are accessed to speed setting a
destination, or a detour.
Trilateration - This is how a GPS device knows its
location. It uses three GPS satellites to trilaterate its
position. GPS units operate on a common clocking system to use
the variation in radio-frequency signal arrival time to calculate
their position.
Automotive GPS - A GPS Receiver typically
used in a car or truck. Depending on the design, can also be
used on motorcycles, boats, or as a hand-held GPS, but is not designed
specifically for these uses.
Mounting - Dash or dashboard mounting usually involves a suction mount holder,
that can easily be removed for storage when not needed.
Traffic - Traffic can be: the
display or information provide about real-time traffic conditions;
about historic traffic conditions at different times of day; or the
ability to route around typical congestion points on your Trip or
route.
Voice - Voice features can be: spoken
information that the GPS provides, including spoken directions, street
names, or alerts; or can be voice commands that the GPS owner gives to
the GPS device.
Touch Screen - A covering over the GPS
display allowing control of the features or map of the GPS Device.
Bluetooth - This is a wireless technology allowing
different devices to communicate. In GPS systems, Bluetooth
usually allows the GPS device to act as a hands-free speaker phone.
Geotagging - This is the saving of a
GPS coordinate to other information, such as a photo, point of
interest or other location. Using a GPS you can usually obtain
exact coordinates that may be used with other devices, or other
devices, such as a Digital Camera may have GOS built in for that
purpose.
GPS Vehicle Placement! NOTICE TO DRIVERS IN CALIFORNIA AND MINNESOTA:
State law prohibits drivers in California and Minnesota from using
suction mounts on their windshields while operating motor vehicles. But you can
easily use other GPS dashboard or friction mounting options. Consult your
GPS manual for more information.
GPS units are designed to provide you with
route suggestions. Unless a GPS unit contains a traffic receiver, they do not
reflect road closures or road conditions, traffic congestion, weather
conditions, or other factors that may affect safety or timing while driving.
Use the unit only as a navigational aid. Do not attempt to use the unit for any
purpose requiring precise measurement of direction, distance, location, or
topography. This product should not be used to determine ground proximity for
aircraft navigation. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by
the United States government, which is solely responsible for its accuracy and
maintenance. The government’s system is subject to changes which could affect
the accuracy and performance of all GPS equipment, including the unit. Although
the unit is a precision navigation device, any navigation device can be misused
or misinterpreted and, therefore, become unsafe.
