Great unit but a bit large
Unit is a bit longer because of the internal power supply. I happen to like the internal power supply because there is no need for an external transformer. LOVE the on off switch, metal case and cooling fan. Easy to install my external DVD drive. Excellent unit! Had mine for 2 months now and use it a lot with my old laptop.

Excellent Product
I order this external IDE 5.25 drive enclosure as I had a spare DVD-CD-RW combo drive. Since I already have a CD-RW drive in my desktop. The drive didn't get recognized at first, but found out that I didn't insert the cable. Did that, Win XP Pro recognized it immediately. Tested out with a DVD and it works flawlessly. I recommend this for anyone that has a spare IDE drive around.

Nextstar DX 5.25
Unit was never recognized by computer. No pilot light on the case after energizing. Optical drive drawer however was able to open and close. This company was quick to correct the issue.

Great Product, SLIGHTLY Misleading Description
Product performs just fine, is easy to assemble and mount a drive into. Very solid. Note that the case is specifically designed for removable media like optical or tape drives. There is no front cover if you choose to mount a 3.5 HD with rails.
