Works but...
I tried this on an older ASUS MB where I abandoned the old onboard IDE and updated to a pair of 750GB SATA drives. It just would not work! I got another controller but same chipset and same problem. I decided it must be MB issue so I had to connect a floppy to attempt BIOs update and to my surprise, it started working. It was previously just instantly saying to press a key to reboot when it was supposed to boot. It saw the drives but nothing. Again, added floppy and things worked. MB issue I am sure so I do not want to blame the card but in case you have this happen, consider my experience to move past it. Now that its working, it does exactly what I want - JBOD under Fedora Linux 14 so I can do software MD RAID1. As others have noted, these 4 ports are shared. You have to set jumpers to activate the ports you want, internal and or external.

Worked has advertised
This raid card is used in a FREENAS system. Worked right out the box with a soft(freenas managed) raid 1. Documentation is skimpy has to be useless. Can't vouch performance wise as I'm on wireless. But this card is able to handle the data load of streaming ripped from CD videos no problems.

Good Card For the Price
Pros: Works out of the box no problems. Cons: Junk sata cables both were defective.
