As broadband speeds increase most 10/100 gateways do not have the power to support those higher data rates, and thus become the bottleneck in the network. The Cisco RVS4000 4-port Gigabit Security Router works at Gigabit speeds to meet the demands of today's networks. It features Linksys' proven SPI Firewall with an integrated Intrusion Detection and Prevent System (IDS/IPS).
Its built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Ethernet switch can connect four PCs directly, or additional hubs and switches. The QoS features provide consistent voice and video quality throughout your business.
In addition, the Cisco RVS4000 4-port Gigabit Security Router features a Virtual Private Network (VPN) security engine that creates encrypted "IPSec tunnels" through the Internet. The IPSec VPN tunnels enable remote users from at home, or on the road to easily, and securely connect to the office network through a typical wired or wireless broadband connection. When used with another RVS4000 or other Cisco VPN router, "branch-to-branch" connections can be established allowing users in a remote office to connect to the corporate network.

Not for Business
Router keeps locking up. Router froze took hard reset to fox. After configuring again router froze one week later, soft reset fixed lockup. may be good for home user, don;t buy for business.

Great Gigabit Router
There are not too many Gigabit Routers out there for small businesses in this price range but this one seems to work great. As with all electronics like routers I suggest still getting the warranty because these can go bad after a year or two. Mines has not gone bad yet and was really easy to install and setup.

VPN constantly drops
Caution on this item if you need to use the IPSEC VPN! There is no ''Keep Alive'' function and you will need to re-connect the VPN frequently if you are using one of these at both ends. Tunnels to other routers work fine but you cannot use this model at both ends. After hours with Cisco engineers they finally said there was NO WAY to make it stable. Why did they even bother making this model? Heads Up! Otherwise this router is fine, nice interface, etc.

Great Router for DDNS and Bridged PPPOe
I use these day and night for large homes and small businesses to set up remote viewing of Surveillance and DDNS accounts plus Bridged PPPOe set up for Qwest modems.
