Intel EXPI9300PT OEM Product Details

PCI Express Gigabit Performance to the Desktop
For PCs with PCI Express (PCIe) slots, the Intel® PRO/1000 PT Desktop Adapter offers the newest technology for maximizing system performance and increasing end-user productivity. Specifically, the Intel PRO/1000 PT Desktop Adapter uses auto-negotiation to allow the adapter to run at the highest available network speed (10, 100 or 1000 Mbps), and it maintains full bandwidth capacity with the dedicated 2.5-Gbps bandwidth of a PCI Express input/output (I/O) bus to provide connectivity you can count on.

My best investment to date. I have Broad band gigabyte in my yeh Dell. I install this with out a hitch Intel PRO 1000 PCI-e and now I have never lost my High speed connection. It's very reliable for I've been running non-stop for two months now.The Broad Band gigabyte has dropped at lease seven times, but not the Intel PRO 1000 PCI-e.

This card is a tad expensive ($30-35), but is the card for you if you are running WinXP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit. (Cheaper $10-15 cards have no driver support for 64-bit Windows). Intel's driver support for this is top notch. (Available on WinXP 64, but you have to add). Built-in support in WinVista, but you get newer drivers from Intel.com. Linux, Windows 32-bit, even Netware drivers. Best driver support. Tiger gets the card to you quickly, and good price.

Installed this Intel Pro 1000 T in a Dell Optiplex 320 mini tower PCIe 16 slot as the PCI slots were occupied. This is a PCIe 1x card. It fits into the front of the 16 slot and worked about 1/2 the time; it wouldn't reinitialize reliably on every boot...Intel replaced the first card but the problem persisted..hypothesize Dell's implementation of the PCIe slot is imperfect.

Buy 2 of these cards if your MoBo supports them. If you are running an SLI set-up with an NVidia chipset you can send with one, receive with the other... Problem is, most MobO'S that do have PCIE-1 put them within centimeters of the primary PCIE. Meaning that if you get a Graphics card with an onboard fan (2 expansion slots) two of these are impossible. Risers are available, but require case mod's. If network'ability is important, this IS the card to go with. BTW - MoBo's with Intel chipsets are loving this NIC - Bandwidth heaven!
