Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Hard Drive
With up to 500GB of pure digital storage in a single drive, the Barracuda 7200.10
is one of the largest, most reliable disc drive around. New perpendicular recording
technology supports vertically stored data bits, enabling increased areal density
and dependability for workstations and performance PCs.
Perpendicular Recording
After more than ten years of research, perpendicular recording is now a
proven technology. It increases capacity and dependability by storing data vertically,
rather than horizontally. And vertically stored data bits mean increased data
density—and more gigabytes per platter.
The Seagate Advantatge
High-capacity Barracuda 7200 disc drives, from the world’s premier storage
provider deliver years of reliable service and high performance. Using advanced
manufacturing techniques and extensive design experience, Seagate® engineers
have built the world’s tenth-generation 7200-RPM desktop disc drive to
provide the industry’s leading combination of capacity, performance and
reliability.
This Drive Holds
- 212 two-hour DVD-quality movies or

Performs great, but this thing is loud as hell! Is anyone else having this issue or did I just get a bad drive? Is there a way to quiet this thing down or do I just have to live with it? Does this drive have AAM?

Bought one of these through another seller and it arrived with un-parked heads. RMA'ed it through Seagate and the RMA arrived with un-parked heads. RMA'ed the RMA and STILL GOT A DRIVE WITH UN-PARKED HEADS! I normally love Seagate, but this is simply inexcusable. If you buy this model check for un-parked heads by holding the drive horizontally next to your ear and GENTLY rotating it left to right. If you hear a swishing, ''ZZZzzzZZZzzz'' type sound, you have un-parked heads.

I am surprised how high quality this hard drive considering the low cost but it works perfectly. The 500 GB of space leaves enough room for everything you could possibly need it for.

Drive is clicking after 3 months usage. add sleep mode in the control panel (power options) the clicking diminished, bought a W/D drive to transfer my data, formatted and DBANned the Seagate drive to send it to seagate, it does not click anymore. so it clicks when it as data on it, and when you use it. very very very puzzled.
