A resistive touchscreen panel is a technology composed of several layers, the layers that allow control of positioning are two thin, electrically conductive layers separated by a narrow gap. When your finger, presses down on a point on the panel's outer surface the two metallic layers come in contact at that point, and that location is sent to the device - to perform some action or move the cursor. Resistive touchscreens are reliable, but can only be used to control a single point at a time.
capacitive touchscreen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO). Since the human body is also an electrical conductor, touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance. Different technologies may be used to determine the location of the touch. The location is then sent to the device to be interpreted. Unlike a resistive touchscreen, capacitive requires contact with your finger - it is much more flexible and precise, but you can't use it with gloves, though you can use a capacitive stylus if the device supports them. Capacitive touchscreens also support multi-touch operations that let you perform more complex tasks with a single action.

Awesome purchase
The tab that does it all. The USB host takes an unpowered hub and will run hard drives, keyboard, even a wireless mouse! Hard to beat all the features. I kept it at HC 3.2 and it works great. I also bought the Square Trade Warranty, so I have 15 months for it to break.

WIFI
I have tried to use this on WIFI but at only 20 feet away from my router it loses to signal. On a trip from Pa to AZ then to Fl and back to Pa it did not work in any motel that I tried

Excellent Tablet
Purchased this for my wife to use in her classroom. All the other teachers have iPad2's and can't use them because most educational sites use Flash. This works great and connects to all their sites. Updated to ICS without any problems. Planning to purchase another one for me.

Wow this is fantastic
I was looking at the Samsung galaxy tab and the Apple ipad but the price was to much so I took a chance and got this Acer a500. I couldn't believe how nice this is after two months I am I love with it and my coworkers with those ipad2 and Samsung tabs can't believe what this tab can do. I just hope it gets the jelly bean os update since it updated to the ics 4.03 so stop listening to YouTube and get this tablet and you can show it off like I do now :)

NO REGRETS
I purchased the Acer Iconia tablet about 2weeks now. I am enjoying every moment of it. This is the second refurbished Acer Tablet I purchased. The first one was in April, it is now in Jamaica. This one is a keeper. No regrets, will shop again soon. My co- worker compared it to her Apple Tablet and regret purschasing an Apple Tablet. She is in the love with the Acer Tablet.
