D-Link 4-Port Load Balancing Router

One of the main differentiators the DI-LB604 has from most routers is its dual WAN ports. With the ability to connect up to two Internet connections, the total available bandwidth doubles in capacity and therefore provides a tremendous increase in network efficiency and user productivity. Dual WAN ports also provide a fast-acting failover response mechanism; if one Internet connection goes down, the other automatically takes control to ensure continuous network uptime.
The built-in four-port switch provides computers on the LAN with network connectivity and Internet access. It took a little work, but I was absolutely astounded that such an inexpensive router could do everything it claims so efficiently, perfectly, and stably (load-balancing dual WANs is a tricky task.) In fact, I've been hammering this little guy using almost every feature (at high load) for a few weeks now without a single problem. However, and this is a MUST (and the reason I am posting this review)...it needed the latest firmware. And unfortunately it cannot even be obtained from their website. As far as customer service, I found out that their main service portal is via dslreports.com (they have dedicated employees monitoring these message boards.) Through this site D-Link provided me with the firmware and help needed to make this product truly work. It is a shame this was released prematurely with firmware that was nowhere near ready for production. However, now I could not be happier with this product.

The product did not work well out of the box for me. After applying the 1.1 firmware update the unit worked perfectly. (The firmware update also wipes out your configuration so the sooner you apply it the better!).

The unit setup easily. all the setup and functions seem to work as advertised. I needed it for extended capacity of slow DSL circuits. needed to setup some VOIP phones. Everything is running fine.

Good Ruter. Worked right out of the box with no issues and very simple setup. I bought this for a failsafe connection. i have a DSL line and a fixed wireless connection to the internet. Load balancing is so, so. It only switches from one to the other, does not combine the two for download improvement, however, I'm happy with the unit.
