Lenovo DVD/CDRW Combo drive Product Details
Lenovo DVD/CDRW Combo drive
Customer Reviews
This combo drive does almost everything that I expect it to do. It is fast, relatively quiet, and compatible with the R32 Thinkpad that I own. The drive can burn CD-Rs at 24X and CD-RWs at 16X depending on the media quality and brand. This combo is also a multi-drive: reads CD-ROM/R/RW and DVD-ROM/-R/-RW/RAM.
Unfortunately, It may or may not read DVD+R/RW(plus)depending on the date of manufacture of the drive itself. Mine was made on March/2003, so it cannot read the plus format, but some made on June/2003 or later should. Also firmware updates will not solve this problem, but will give this drive a small performance boost.
Overall, if you don't mind the inability to read the plus format and want a good upgrade at a bargain price of $50, then I highly recommend this product.
