The software for this product is no longer supported. So if you buy it and the software doesn't work you're out of luck. The original provider of the software was bought by c-o-r-e-l and they don't support it.
Dont buy it

I got this item to capture home movies and put them on a DVD as presents. It took me two days to get it actually working because the drivers kept crashing my PC. I finally just used the drivers that XP selected from the hardware install wizard. Had to mess with the software that came with it a bit to figure out how it all worked. The software errors out and does not allow you to save a video if it suddenly picks up a broadcasted frequency (i.e. home videos were recorded over old episodes of Punky Bruister so it took me a couple tries to stop capturing before it went into the old video). Took me about four days to successfully capture all the videos and create a DVD. It should've taken less time than that, but I can't complain for $25. Haven't tried the tuner. I'm neutral on this device except for the complexity of the installation. That part was very frustrating

This product sounds impressive for the price, but save your money. Starting with the totally inadequate documentation, to drivers that lock up and disable other usb devices, to a supplied application that requires a serial number that they do not tell you where or how to find. Mine never was successful and I had to disable the drivers to get my external usb drives working again. I hoped it was going to be worth the try for the price. It wasn't.

it says that my system doesn't have enough power. the USB. I do have a USB 2.0 and neither with that... so! i just junk it with old devices.
i will have to return it or something, because i have a great computer, and this device just doesn't want to install. I was a computer network manager so i know about hardware and software. so this thing just frustrated me.
Did what I needed

I can understand all the negative reviews. I bought it to transfer video tapes to DVD and I haven't tested the tuner yet, I don't really need it. Yes there were no batteries for the remote. Yes the documentation instructions are basically useless. After being unable to log on to makers web site or download vista drivers from anywhere, I opened all the folders on the CD. Lo and behold, there was a vista folder on the CD. After running all the setups I could find, it worked and I didn't need the requested serial number. Shot 11 years ago on a well used handycam, I didn't notice any quality loss in the transfer. Good thing I had a 2 RCA to stereo minijack cable around. You need to make sure you open the settings and choose the correct source, destination, and format. Not plug and play, not for the impatient.
Do NOT BUY

Hi all,
I got this TV tuner card just 3 days ago.
The CD says its vista compatible, but it didnot work. I had to download drivers for it and finally got it work. But still remote is not working at all. Time between channel change is more compared to my previous TV Tuner card. Frankly speaking, if you can find another one even $10 more, go for that. I definitely dont recommend to my friends.
