Wow, for entry level and early DLP specs, you get world class performance you would expect from Tiger, they carry the good stuff, both inexpensive up to what you need to get the job done. From the line up of ViewSonic, this one is the best value. I was sad when the projection was larger than the screen, I had to purchase a bigger screen from Tiger!!! Be warned don't make fun of small things, you might be blown away. Let us pray they do not run out of stock. |

If you want a very good projector that is easy to carry around, this one is for you. I love my projector. I use it weekly in a movie theater setting and it works great even though I have it set on econo mode! Once in a while, when it first finds the source (laptop), the display will be offset and I have to tell it to search again. The only feature I wish it had was a quick adjust on the front foot. You nearly always need to raise the front foot, not the back ones but you have to screw out the front foot on this unit to get elevation. |

I've had the projector for about a month now, and it is exactly what I expected. We are using it as our primary TV projecting to a 96'' (16:9) screen, and getting heavy use daily. The color is excellent, and the brightness is good enough to leave lights on in the room while watching.
While not quite High Def, TiVo recorded shows are sharp and clear, and DVDs projected in progressive mode are absolutely fantastic.
Minor complaints (expected in this price range):
Occasional odd effects when watching interlaced video from the TiVo. (Easy to ignore) The keystone adjustment has to be changed when switching from standard to wide screen. (I would have hoped that this setting would be remembered by the projector for each mode)
Overall, a nice TV projector and great computer monitor projector. |

There is truth to the statement that you get what you pay for.
The good: Very bright. Clear image. Throws around 100 inches at 11 to 12 feet. 1024x768 native resolution. good contrast ratio. Color is excellent with movies.
The bad: severe ghosting(trailing) in certain situations with movies. dark on light objects and vice versa will leave a trail momentarily on the screen. The other bad, is a form of image tearing due to interlacing issues.
Overall: A good projector for the money, but the truly image-quiality-picky will not be satisfied by this projector, expecially with movies.
My expierience was that most people that viewed movies with me didnt notice the problems I saw, but then again, some did. Im picky, so I have to have the best, and will be on the search for something better. |

Our PJ458D malfunctioned after one month of extremely light service. The unit would work for approx. 10 minutes then the bulb would turn-off. Later restarting the machine, it would work for 10 minutes and shut the bulb off. Bulb was ok.
ViewSonic offered to do Advance Replacement but after a week of holding the ticket informed us on a Friday night that they had no units for advance replacment.
They then supplied a UPS label which I discovered later was only ground shipping which took a week. Two weeks after shipping it we still have no unit. And ViewSonic has no idea when we will have one. |

This is the 3rd projector I've bought from TigerDirect and 3rd time I've been satisfied. This particular projector for the money cannot be matched. Good throw ratio great clearity and color. Big tip to anyone wanting to maximize a 2000 lumen DLP projector. Get or paint a grey screen. Believe me, a light grey screen will make the blacks pure and the color satuaration breathtaking!! I just mixed a little flat black with flat white and painted the screen on a wall bordered with flat black. Picture looks amazing, and my family couldn't believe it. |

So far so good. Purchased this about 3 months ago and I am very happy with this projector - great price too, especially with the rebate. I went to a large retail chain with supposedly best buys and tried to find a comparable deal and there was nothing close with XGA. It was about $300 more for a comparable unit and that one only had a 1 year warranty. Picture quality is great, got a VGA to component cable and dvds look awesome. (Look around on the internet, I found a company with the cable for about $20 and others wanted $60 or more.) Very bright and with the component cable it makes the picture even clearer and more true-to-life. I highly recommend this projector - it even comes with a case, which most lower priced projectors don't have. I do worry about the bulb replacement, but it looks great in ECO mode in a dimly lit room which saves bulb life. |
