One thing about this device: it comes with BlackBerry OS 4, which means that out of 16MB of promised memory you can use only 2-2.5MB. It is almoust the same as if you had to buy a 100 GB hard disk and you could only use 16.7 GB. This model was not designed for OS4. Even with OS3.7 you get only 7MB if you uninstall all the applications. After one month the amount of free space under OS3.7 reduces to ~1.2MB. However, you are not going to by it with OS3.7; I had to search for and install it myself. I hope you got my point? (7230 is not worth the money and effort).

Best 16MB Blackberry for the price with wider 240x160 screen, Java ME, etc... -- I really prefer this over the Treos (even if I give up some Palm flexibility). Cheap to setup with T-Mobile for $19.99/month, or with 1000 minutes for $59.99/month (unlocked, but mine was branded T-Mobile).
Only downside is that it's only 16MB EEPROM/2MB SRAM, which means the last OS is 4.0, no 4.1+ which requires 32MB EEPROM/4MB SRAM. But you can't beat the price, don't bother with the black'n white 6230 for not much less.

I'm a Cingular customer in the US and have a Samsung phone with basic data service so I can web surf <2MB. I thought the Blackberry would be cool because of the bigger screen and keyboard. It arrived in good shape. Some scratching and cosmetic stuff on the back from the holder, no big deal. Screen and front side with keyboard are perfect. Popped my SIM card in and fired it up. Phone worked right away but not web. I called Cingular and the tech helped me set up the data service for the blackberry. told him it was unlocked and I bought it retail. That wasn't a problem. He had me navigating menues and settings before he even knew whether or not Cingular sold this model.I had to upgrade to MediaNet which is an extra $30 per month. Pretty pricey, but unlimited download. SIM card still works on my other phone the same as it used to. I think it's a good deal, web access is fast. Neat little unit. Be careful as item is non returnable if it doesnt work for you.

Good product I bought mine for phone and PDA Purposes only wasn't to concered with e-mail, and Web service. Unfortunatly I had called my wireless provider before I purchased it to make sure they supported it. Well when I got it and took It in they claimed they didn;t support this model and I needed to purchase one of there models (f@#% them). But I still have my regular phone and it works good as a standalone PDA with Microsft Outlook (Notes, Schedules, Contacts, Attatchment Viewing, Calander, etc.) You have to download the software from the Blackberry Site to use the sync feature to get it to work on desktop (V 3.6 SP3 or higher). All and all good product should have checked into my wireless provider more, but hey it does what I bought it for. Cant go wrong with its PDA Capabilitys.

Smaller than i thought. my sidekick broke so i had to get a new phone and i saw this for this unbelievable price. i know why everyone is talking about their blackberry, its cool. the only downside is that it does not come with the install cd or a booklet. thats why its a 4 rather than a 5. but you can download it from the internet, or from your service provider.
