Perfect Grill

Just what I expected. Rec'd grill today and made smoked bbq chicken breast. There is a learning curve but it wont be hard to figure out! I love it and have already seen how to modify grill for direct cooking for burgers and dogs. Best price on the web and great service!

Excellent!

Once you understand that this is a charcoal powered slow cooker and not a BBQ, you're good to go. Best things to cook on the Cobb are whole chickens and ribs - Leave them in there for the full 3 hours without lifting the lid and you will have slow roasted perfection. If you want high temperature grilling, get a Hibachi - But the Cobb has become an essential part of my outdoor cooking arsenal.

Disappointing performance

After a lot of research for a small BBQ for my RV, I purchased the Cobb. The quality & ease of use are there and even at 69.99 it's still pricey for not really being able to get hot enought to sear items. I've taken to using my own rack which helps. Difficuly to clean the well - lots of elbow grease. Would not purchase again.

Does everything it says, but has a learning curve.

1) The center of the cooking surface (directly over the coals) is not perforated, so do not expect any char from juices hitting the coals. But no flare ups, either. 2) Using excessive wet marinades or filling the moat with liquid will cause food to steam when the lid is on. 3) The lid extends the coal burn life and makes it act like an oven. You will not get a direct sear with the lid on. 4) Since it doesn't have sides to block wind, the extender ring is a must if you are not going to use the lid.

Not a BBQ

I tried the Cobb by putting on a Sirloin steak and some sliced veggies. It ended up boiling my steak and veggies instead of barbecuing them. Perhaps it will be of better served as a smoker.
