Keep that old TV going
Works perfectly with 3rd gen Apple TV. I combined this with an additional RF Modulator (from Monster) to connect the ATV to a 30 year old television... works like a CHAMPION. No heat concerns

You want one of these
This allows me to watch streaming content on my older crt tv while feeding the audio to the surround sound . Team that up with a vcr and you might not be high tech or high definition but the picture and sound are quite good. I've been using this for about two weeks and so far I couldn't be happier.

it works
does what it says, but picture quality was a little disappointing, connection was simple just plug and play. good product but don't expect too much out of it
