I bought this to replace a 60 gig in a Dell Inspiron 5150 that was a 4200 rpm 2mb cache. I combined this with an upgrade on memory from 512 mb to 2 gig. I was amazed at the easy install. This HD is faster than my desktop SATA HD. I'm trying to think of another laptop to upgrade so I can buy another one of these. I would say it tripled the speed of this laptop. Don't buy a new laptop, upgrade your HD and memory for much less. Great price too!
The hard drive in my HP laptop was showing signs of age. My system was running very slowly. I thought that maybe I had a virus or spyware.
After running CA security suite, I found that there was nothing on my machine. I tried to run the defragmenter and it hung. Finally I did a chkdsk/f and found that the old drive had errors on it. Since I use this machine for work, I decided to replace the hard drive.
This drive is fantastic! The performance is about 33% faster than the original 60GB Hitachi 5400 RPM. My system boots in half the time, shuts down much faster and all applications run faster. This is an excellent product, I highly recommend it.
Easy to install. My laptop runs faster and more effieciently with this drive. Overall, it is quieter, heats up less and boots up faster than my old drive. The price is affordable and would recommend this to someone who is deciding on more space or getting a new computer.
Fast delivery, installed easily. Huge boost in speed from my previous 4200 rpm drive, most loading tasks run 25% to 50% faster. Also improved gameplay significantly. Only slightly louder, overall much quieter than I expected. Notebook fan running slightly more than before, but doesn't seem much hotter. Highly recommended.
Excellent hard drive. I replaced the stock 4200RPM hard drive on my gateway MX7515 (also from tiger) and I am glad I did. Movie editing, game load times, even the windows start up time, are all vastly improved (which they should be for a faster hard drive). Great hardware from tiger, as usual.
