I used the basic fan that came with my Athlon 64 3300+. After about 4 months it started to overheat while multi-tasking. I installed this unit and instead of my computer hitting 150 degrees and shutting off, it runs at 125 degrees max when multi-tasking, burning a dvd, and browsing the internet at the same time. I am not a gamer, but it is not uncommon for me to have 20 windows open and burning a dvd at same time. Worth the money if you have the Athlon 64 processors, as they seem to run hot.

This fan is awesome. It took the temp. of my AMD64 X2 down from 36-38 idle(stock heatsink and fan), to 29-32 idle. I have played demanding games such as F.E.A.R. for hours at a time, and haven't seen the temp rise above 40. Great deal.
