Customer Reviews
I love it! It did need the RCA converters, but overall I am very happy with my purchase.
This is an excellent TV, I am thinking about buying another one just for my basement. If anyone that I know that is looking for one I will direct them to this company.
this is a good panasonic plasma TV
I bought the 7th generation forerunner of this model. Like Darrin I was looking for a display that could handle European PAL as well as the North American NTSC system. After comparing the picture quality of the 42'' Panasonic EDTV panel against that of a 43'' Pioneer HDTV panel I couldn't really justify spending the extra money (not while prices are still dropping). I'm sure the Panasonic's better contrast ratio had something to do with it. I also bought the DVI terminal board so that I could feed a pure digital picture from my Oppo DVD player into the Panny...all I can say is WOW!!! I also have a Rogers HDTV PVR hooked up via the component inputs (the display doesn't have a tuner) and the HD pictures look stunning, while the digital SDTV channels aren't bad either. Its only the channels that Rogers source from analog that don't really cut it, but the Panny does wonders with most SD sources...far better than any HD panel I've seen.
I wanted a TV for my living room that would not raise any objections from my wife. It had to support both the US NTSC and UK PAL breoadcast systems. This means that you can buy a region free DVD player and ''pass through'' other region signals without having the player convert them to NTSC for output which will distort the displayed image.
Another feature is the ''Justify'' screen mode. IF you've watched a normal program on a widescreen TV and seen it stretched over the whole screen them you've no doubt been horrified by the distortion. In ''Just'' mode, this TV does some smart processing on the image where the center of the screen is left untouched and then the sides are gradually ''pulled'' to fill the screen. This results in an image where the distortion is hardly visible and takes place away from the action. I can also word process on my PC at a 1084x768 res in comfort thanks to smart scaling. Don't forget the stand is not included if you need it.
