My first PC was an Apple II. My best PC is this one (upgraded to 2G RAM). I've a dozen desktops. Ctrl+F5 takes me to desktop 5, where my personal website is open for enhancements. Konqueror browser is open on all 12 desktops, with a few tabs each relevant to the desktop's work. When I boot up, the Konq's reopen to their configs on each desktop. (For websites that don't recognize Konq, Firefox is also included.) Putting Windows on this box is a substantial downgrade. Don't expect Apple's support at this price. Do resolve to take the trouble to actually learn how great KDE is. Open Office is highly competitive w/the big bucks competitor. .DOCs, .XLSs work on both.

I brought this machine in Jan. 2005 after my IBM of 7 years died. I haven't had any problems with this machine and still don't. It's been a very good computer and you just can't beat the price.

They claimed it was compatible with windows office, it was a good price so I purchased one. What they failed to tell you was that the OS is not compatible with alot of internet sites and it is not near as user friendly as they would like you to believe.

I bought this machine to take to graduate school. I needed something reliable, versatile, and cheap. I have been extremely satisfied. I added some memory, another hard drive, and a dvd burner that I had laying around. Linspire is fantastic - I won't go back to Microsoft. I have had no compatability problems. OpenOffice does just about everything a student of education needs.

Company who makes computer may or may not be the great, but for this price you couldn't build your own. However, Linspire is a great operating system for the average home user. Networks & prints with/to Win XP Machines right out of the box, just a few mouse clicks. Loaded with Open Office for FREE, which is Compatible with Microsoft Office -Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.-AWESOME- CNR service is now free for a basic account, which meens thousands of programs are literally one click to get/run. Even easier than windows, and most are free. Does ''pretty much'' anything a student, average home user could ever want and even more. Sure you have to get used to it and some things are different, but a few weeks on the forums while playing with Linspire and you'll never turn back to Windoze for your easy to use home computer.
