Good product for the price
I purchased the VC500 to capture video from various sources (VHS, DISH network, VHS-C, & 8mm). The test capture that I did immediately after installation looked good during the capture, and in other software later. The capture software was easy to use. For editing, I prefer to use VideoReDo, and for authoring a DVD my preference is ULead DVD Movie Factory, So I have not tried any other software that came with the VC500. All in all, I feel that the VC500 is a good capture device.

Almost Worthless!
I purchased the VC500 to capture home video from cVHS and Hi-8. After, several attempts at capturing video, I just could not live with the poor video quality. There was too much pixelation and a black band would appear on the left side of the screen and wave like a flag. There were also a rainbow band on the bottom. Only, DVD and MPG4 settings would capture the video and audio in sync. Every other setting was unusable. The showbiz file does allow you to edit, but not capture. I have not tried to burn to DVD. And I have no idea why dynno broadcast is part of the installation package. So, after capturing 4 different tapes I have decided that the video is unacceptable and I will try something else. The bottom line is this device is of poor quality and not very well supported on the diamond website. I would not recommend purchasing the VC500 to anyone.
