for mac users it is clearly stated that you have to reformat the hard drive...

Nice peace of mind
I like this for backing up my more that 2000 photos. I didn't care for the free NTI software. I tried it & thought my computer was going to burn out! It was a bit confusing for my tech level. Realized & was relieved to know I could use it as any other portable storage device. Much better without the software for me.

Does not work with MacBook Pro and Air!!
Doesn't work with macbook pro or air because it draws more than 5W of power from usb port. Macbook air and pro strictly limits power drawn from usb port to 5W so it does not work. Do not buy if you are intending to use this hard drive for a macbook pro or air.
