A resistive touchscreen panel is a technology composed of several layers, the layers that allow control of positioning are two thin, electrically conductive layers separated by a narrow gap. When your finger, presses down on a point on the panel's outer surface the two metallic layers come in contact at that point, and that location is sent to the device - to perform some action or move the cursor. Resistive touchscreens are reliable, but can only be used to control a single point at a time.
capacitive touchscreen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO). Since the human body is also an electrical conductor, touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance. Different technologies may be used to determine the location of the touch. The location is then sent to the device to be interpreted. Unlike a resistive touchscreen, capacitive requires contact with your finger - it is much more flexible and precise, but you can't use it with gloves, though you can use a capacitive stylus if the device supports them. Capacitive touchscreens also support multi-touch operations that let you perform more complex tasks with a single action.

Please don't!
I made a mistake and went away from my long-held belief that you get what you pay for. I thought if I was getting it for half-price, it might be worth it. It's not. Out of the box, it would not download off Google Play store. I think it is because it is an old version of Android. From what I understand, you have to flash the drive to get the new software on. That's not good. To say the screen is touch-sensitive is technically correct, but sensitive might be a bit of an overstatement. You have to push pretty hard to get it to work and even then it is sketchy at best. It was hard enough navigating menus. I can imagine that playing games would be a real chore. Then again, it could be a good workout! Slow. It is slow booting and slow running. Long and short of it - you can find a better tablet for a better price.

Don't waste your money!
I purchased this for my son's Christmas present. Plugged it in to charge and it won't power on. Trying to get any support out of Pandigital is useless so I guess I'm out my $100 and now get to go purchase another one.

Very disappointed
Thought I had ordered an Android tablet but device is less powerful than my Sony rebook! Slow, unresponsive are the first two words that come to mind. Would like to return it And more than willing to pay the price for a real tablet.

NO Android apps!
1. Ditto to all the other negative reviews. 2. This unit is incompatible with Google Play, so forget ''Download and Enjoy Android apps from your favorite sites'' as the box claims. 3. I've downloaded only one ebook PDF, and the pages cannot be enlarged, and the print is so small that it is almost impossible to read, so I won't bother using it as an eReader! 4. Avoid disappointment -- buy something else!
