Features

AMD Athlon™ 64
AMD64 improves performance for many applications by evolving this industry-standard technology from a 32- to a 64-bit architecture. 64-bit computing allows operating systems and software to process more data and access a tremendous amount of memory. AMD64 is an industry-standard approach to 64-bit technology that combines innovation, simplicity, and foresight to deliver the next generation of performance—today.
HyperTransport™ Technology
HyperTransport™ technology is a high performance, easy-to-implement system interconnect technology originally invented by AMD. It is designed to increase overall system performance by removing I/O bottlenecks, increasing bandwidth, and reducing latency. HyperTransport technology implemented in the AMD Athlon™ 64 FX processor enables a system bus to run at 1600MHz.
AMD Cool‘n’Quiet™ Technology
In the past, increased processor performance has often meant increased power consumption and increased noise levels. AMD Cool‘n’Quiet™ technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon™ 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower the power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance on demand, for the ultimate computing experience.
Enhanced Virus Protection
All AMD64 processors, including the AMD Athlon™ 64 FX, AMD Athlon 64, and Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processors, are enabled with Enhanced Virus Protection. With Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), you will be able to fully utilize the security technology*. By providing extra security at the platform level, AMD lets you easily embrace the future of computing.

I bought this CPU about 6 months ago. I was very happy with its performance, and I even OC'ing by about 15% more, so it was a little more than 2.6GHZ. Couple months ago i notice the performance is slower, and I just attributed it to the more applications that I'd installed. But just couple days ago, when I check the speed of the CPU it was rated at only 999.9 mhz at idle and at times it flactuates just over 1.2 Ghz. However, when an applications is call for the CPU speed could reach 2.4 GHZ again for a short time, and when back to the idle speed again. Needless to say I was upset. I still don't understand the flactuations, but I know this is definitely the results of O'Cing. So if you are planning to OC this, think twice, or go with Intel C2D for their better OC ability. That's the reason for 4 stars only.

Fantastic Processor. Worked amazingly for a few weeks until my Mobo bit the dust on me. I am very excited to get my replacement though, for the simple reason that this processor simply flies on anything you can throw at it, definitely worth the low price.

Wicked performance at an *unbelieveable* price. Paired with 2GB Corsair DDR on an Asus SLI-Premium and 7800GTX graphics. Overclocks easy to 2.6GHz (at least). Approx. 9 months ago, this thing was $420+.. if for some reason you are waiting to go dual-core (or don't need to), you will NOT find a more powerful single-core CPU for this kind of price. A friend has the same, clocked to 2.8GHz with only air cooling (A64 Freezer Pro HSF). A seriously wicked s939 chip that won't be around for much longer.

Works great! O/C to 2.78GHz easily with very little heat increase... Cache is great for speedy processing. Great buy!

When I started to put together my latest PC, I went for an old classic. This chip is reliable, runs cool, and is easy to overclock. Don't spend a fortune on a dual-core unless you are going to be unzipping rar's non-stop or encoding audio or video. I know it's old, but I recommend this product.

What You Should Know

Heat Sinks - Many Shapes & Sizes!
A heat sink (or heatsink) is an object that absorbs and dissipates heat from another object using thermal contact (either direct or radiant). Heat sinks are used in a wide range of applications wherever efficient heat dissipation is required; including for CPUs, Memory, Video Cards, and more.

Heat Sink Shapes Change!
Many products come with a Heat Sink, and some with a combination Heat Sink and Fan.  Keep in mind though, that manufacturers are constantly improving the design of their cooling components, thus the shape and design of the heat sink or heat sink & fan can change on any product at any time.

PLEASE NOTE:  Cooling Components Can Change At Any Time, And Do Not Affect The Performance Or Specifications Of The Product.

How Do Heat Sinks Work?
Heat sinks function by transferring high temperature thermal energy (heat) from one object (such as a CPU chip) to a second object (such as the Heat Sink), which has a lower temperature, with a much greater heat capacity. This rapid transfer of heat quickly balances the temperature of both devices, lowering the temperature of the first.  This is what makes a heat sink a cooling device. Since room temperature is usually cooler than the hot device, the Heat Sink helps cool the device, lowering its temp to closer to room temperature.

The most common design of a heat sink is a metal device with many fins or vanes. The high thermal conductivity of the metal combined with the large surface area of the fins does the work to rapidly transfer heat to the surrounding, cooler, air. This cools the heat sink and whatever it is in contact with.  Some Heat Sinks use the metal alone for cooling, some use fluids (just like you car radiator) and a thermal interface material (such as thermal gel) to ensure maximum heat transfer to the heat sink. Adding a fan dramatically improves air flow, and improves the heat transfer even more.

Remember The Thermal Paste!
Remember that when you are adding a Heat Sink, you MUST USE thermally conductive Gel or Paste, to form a good thermal contact between the Heat Sink and the Device.  Failing to use this will result in reduced cooling, and possible failure and damage to the device!

CPU Disclaimer

PLEASE NOTE: We only sell NEW processors purchased direct from the manufacturer or from factory authorized distributors. We will never sell a "pull" (which is a CPU removed from an assembled system at some manufacturing plant) or a used processor as other online vendors do without telling you. We are the largest CPU reseller in the Country, we offer the lowest prices in the industry on processors because we deal in such great volume. If you are comparing our price against another site with a much lower price, you are probably buying returns or pulls. Only accept genuine quality, buy from Us.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING OUR RETURN POLICY ON CPU'S: Please note that all processors may be returned only for defective exchange. You must purchase a compatible heatsink and fan on the same order as the processor in order to preserve your warranty or exchange privilege. We are not able to accept returns for refunds on processors under any circumstances. All processors will be inspected and tested upon return and any damage caused by poor packaging, overclocking, or other tampering with the processor will be cause for the return to be refused, and exchange denied.
