I actually bought this piece for a new system i was building thinking it didn't come with a fan because my last one didn't come with it. Never installed it yet but it's basically the same stock fan. Now i just have an early replacemeny on-hand. |

Replacement for liquid CPU cooling system (pump failed after 2 years; overheat shutdown). Easy install; thermal compound is pre-applied but I added a bit more. Needed to adjust wiring to clear the fan. |

While I do no experience the volume issues that many others have, this stock heatsink does not perform anywhere near above mediocre levels. There are 15 dollar heat sink - fan combos that do the job 3 times as well and if you are using anything with more than one core, it's more than worth the investment, as you'll be saving yourself the cost of replacing a very expensive component in the future. There are accounts of this heatsink fusing to the CPU. Not worth the risk. |
