THIS PRODUCT SHIPS IN OEM PACKAGING - GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN
Manufacturers sometimes offer discounts when large quantities of products are purchased without fancy, colorful, retail packaging. We take advantage of these opportunities to bring you the same quality, retail product at a lower price. Retail packaging is designed to look good on a store shelf and attract your attention. It frequently includes more paper, plastic and cardboard than needed. OEM packaging is not as visually attractive but is far more economical and because OEM packaging uses less paper, plastic, ink and cardboard it creates less waste and is better for the environment. Although OEM packaged product ships in a plain white or brown box you can be assured it is the same quality product as the retail packaged version. Buying OEM packaged products saves you money and helps save the planet…GO GREEN AND SAVE GREEN. Included accessories, software, documentation, and manufacturer warranties on OEM products may vary from retail versions. Great product, and quiet (other than during heavy use). I have never had a problem when trying to connect to it via a web browser (no 404 errors) and I love the automatic power (you set the power up and the power down times and just leave it). The only thing is you cannot use the ''backup'' function with the auto-power on, so you turn it off and then back on when done if you need to. I use a different program and backup straight to the attached USB hard drive, so it's not a problem for me. I do not use the passwords/accounts etc so I cannot comment on that, but I do like that you can have separate sections (folders) like Share-All: to share folder to all computers, Share-WIN: to share that folder only to Windows computers, and Share-MAC: share folder items with only Mac computers... The only 2 issues I have are: Not all printers work (which I knew), and You can have only *1* USB HDD attached at all (in the rear) even if not using the front port for a printer (it's for a printer ONLY)!

I like the product but it is very noisy. Fan runs all the time (not sure if it's suppose to). I've had it for about a month and it performs well, but it is kinda loud.

Absolutely love it. Works great for my wife for storage etc. Would be nice to be able to use Windows utilities on the drive, but we're quibbling. Fast and quiet - the way a harddrive should be.

Great product - easily setup as my central storage device for my home network. I have a laptop running XP and a Macintosh G3 clone running OS 8.6. What a bonus to have the older mac able to access this device. Lots of the other NAS units tout only Mac OS 10.x. So, if you are looking for a reliable, easily configurable (DHCP or static IP) NAS with plenty of storage, this one is for you. Plus, you just can't beat the price from Tiger. My shipment arrived ahead of schedule as well. One picky complaint is having to reboot the device if I want to access it via a browser; in my experience, if you close a browser window using web access for the device, and then want to re-establish a connection, you get a '404' error. A simple and quick reboot takes care of this.

This is the best peripheral I have ever bought for my small home network. I tried many USB drives connected to different computers and other ''so-called'' NAS that did only half the job. I set this up to have all my files in a central place, connected a USB drive in backup mode, setup a back-up schedule on the drive and my backup problems are gone. Now all I had to do was setup each of my 3 PCs and my laptop to backup to this network drive at regular intervals...GREAT NAS. And as a bonus, I have an FTP server and a print server.
