I use the ADS instant music to transform my audio to 5.1. I connect an optical cable from it's output to the input of my 1000 watt surround sound system. This converts everything to 5.1 and sounds great!
Oh, and I also use it to record music as they advertise.

When I burned CD from the Nero software ADS provides, the first song always distorted. It sounds like the input is too lound. Otherwise, this is a great product. Is there anyone can help me?

Works great! I use Xandros Linux as my primary OS, so compatability is always a concern. I plugged it into a USB port and a few seconds later it was instantly available as an audio device. No configuring, standing on my head, loading drivers, etc. (note: this is Linux, and its driver is probably already in the kernel; in Windows you'd likely need to load the driver included on the CD). I use Audacity to record, and it works like a champ! My setup includes a Dual turntable and old Sansui hi-fi pre-amp. I connect the output of the pre-amp directly to this gadget, and can then use the pre's volume control to control the input gain.

Disadvantage is the inability to control input recording levels. Music recorded were distorted. My solution; instead of making direct connections on my amplifiers ''out'' ports, decided to use headphone socket where I can control the sound going into the ADS Instant Music using the amplifier's volume control knob. Connections
were made using a Y cable with 2 rca plugs at one end, connects to ADS Instant music. Other end is a 3.5mm stereo jack (standard size among walkman heaphones) to headphone socket of my Yahama stereo receiver. Believe me recording was a breeze. Really satisified. Now enjoy my cassette music collections converted to cd, others loaded to my MP3 player.
A good buy. Can record music from my Sirius
Satellite radio that came in with TV Satellite service.

This device does not provide any ability to adjust the input recording level. Therefore, if the line output of the device from which one is recording, a 1960's vintage Akai reel-to-reel tape deck in my case, provides excessive gain then the InstantMusic device is overdriven and produces distorted recording.
There is a recording level adjustment present in the OEM Nero software provided but, for some reason, that function is disabled. Additionally, in an attempt to determine if the full version of Nero provides the ability to attenuate the input level I've contacted their customer support and they have not even bothered to reply.
Beware, if you buy this product you may have to buy or build your own L-Pad attenuator and there is no support to help you with any questions that you may have.
Lastly, if I thought Tiger would refund my money after opening the package, I'd send it back in a second!

I have to say I was pleased when I hooked this little baby up! I run XP SP2, 2-Gigs RAM, and on-board sound. I already had Nero 7 Ultra installed, so I did not need to install the software that came with the unit. All the cables I needed were included in the box. I hooked it up in less than a minute and started importing music from my mini-disc and converting to MP3s, just like that. And if you get any tape hiss or rumble it is easily edited out with Nero. Excellent value for the money. The unit is small, so it sits nicely on the PC tower. The look and design is awesome. This unit performed as described - flawlessly. Would recommend to others without hesitation.

It's the best thing since sliced bread. I love it. I plugged in per the instructions and it started working. I record from my Directv receiver. I subscribe to XM radio through Directv, why not use it.

People, this is the best hardware since sliced bread! Once I figured out how to ground the stereo audio wires (I chose the center screw of the wall outlet plug) the thing started working without a hitch. This surely beats paying $400 bucks like my neighbor paid!
Thanks ADS Tech and Tigerdirect!

I can not use this. It works intermittantly. Right in the middle of recording from a casette tape I get white noise that overwhelms the music. I have removed all other USB devices and stopped internet activity at the request of ADS but it has not helped. This problem appears on both my old DELL and my brand new Thinkpad. Get something else to do this for you.

I suggest anyone should do their homework when it comes to converting analog to digital. I did and opted for this device over all others. PS, all conversions require that a phonograph have a pre-amp. I got the device, and followed the super simple instructions. Viola, success. I had already downloaded a free pgm (Audacity) from the net so didn't bother with the Nero pgm that came with it...until later. They both work flawless. Nero has Wizards which are fantastic, or you do everything by yourself. I also downloaded the Nero update it suggested, but didn't need to install it. Converting from wavs to mp3 was a breeze, and making CD's was even easier. Do your homework, study what analog to digital is, then have a ball! I use Win Media Ctr Edition, have 1.5 GB RAM, and an adequate hard drive. No problems at all! And you can plug and unplug the device all day long and never have to reboot. I'd say a 10-star purchase.
